The weather bureau issued a warning last Sunday night that the drop, representing some o< the cold- eat weather of the season, was mov ing into the Carollnas from the north and west and predicted lows down as far as 16 to 20 degrt^es above zero. The central portions of the two states were scheduled for mini- mums of from 20 to 24, while In the coastal areas lows around freezing were predicted. Yesterday the maximum tem perature was 49, but the minimum of an expected 34 or 36 would bring the normal average well below the usual 46. Thirty-four or 35 Is ap proximately a normal minimum temperature for this time of year, Mr. Merchant said, but the high temperature during the day is too low to bring the average up to nor mal for this time of year. Mrs. Alice Dannelly. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Melton of this city, who was an occupant in the car with Mrs. Scott, la still In the local hospital as a result of in juries sustained. Susie Wilkes, a 9-year-old girl, another passenger, has recovered from Injuries she sustained. The driver of the car that figured In the collision with the Scott car was badly hurl. Roth cars were practlcaljy demolished. Mrs. Paramore has been engaged in the Children’s Home work since 1933 and in that time has traveled by either car, train or plane to 28 states. Her present confinement Is the first time in 16 years she has been thus handlcapp^Kl. She still retains supervision of the home which has some 12 child residents. At the time of the accident Mrs. Paramore was bringing one of the children of the home from Raleigh. How may appllca- hospital care of a veteran? Here are the answers to these and other questions frequently ask ed by veterans: Q. Is VA issuing prosthetic ser vice cards to amputee veterans? A. Yes. Veterans wearing art!-. ficiaL limbs who are entitled to re pairs at government expense may obtain a prosthetic service card. The card enables the veteran to obtain immediate repair service up to a limit of 635 without prior ap proval from the Veterans Adminis tration. Q. Can an amputee veteran se lect the type of artificial limb he wants and the firm be wants to buy It from? A. Yes. the veteran will be per mitted to aelect the artificial limb of tils choice but it must be pur chased from an approved prosthetic appliance manufacturer under con tract with VA. Q. How may application be Aos^ domiciliary^ pf > care of a veteran? A. VA Form P-10, "Application for Hospital Treatment oir Domicil iary Care”, should be executed!by. the veteran or his nearest relative, guardian or representative and forwarded to the nearest VA hos pital, regional office ,or oontant of fice. C., has been awarded a permanent citation for the Bronze Star medal by Secre tary of the Navy James Forrestal for the president. Rear Admiral Glover earned the award while serving as assistant war plans officer on the staff of the Pacific fleet’s commander-ln-chlef. He routed the carriers which ope rated In the Gilbert Islands, Mar shall Islands, and Marianas cam paigns. He also assisted in the lay ing of detailed plans and the actual capture of HoIIandia. Text of the citation Is as follows: ‘‘For meritorious service as as sistant war plans officer on the staff of the Commander-ln-(jhlef, Pacific fleet and Pacific ocean areas, during operations against enemy Japanese forces, from July 12, 1943, to July 28, 1944.
