Her grand grandfath er, Joseph Mickle, reached Camden about 1768, the time of the Ctuaker settlement here and acquired large holdings of land on the Wateree river and had the rights to ths first ferry. Her grandfather waa Major Jos eph Mickle who married Martha^ Belton, daughter of John Belton. Major Joseph Mickle was a prom inent and popnlar merchant in Camden, retiring later to bla fine country residence across the river. “Mlaa^Sarah” inherited his love of books and wiL Miss Mickle was bora March 81, 1864, and waa proud to be a “Daugh ter of the 60*8” devotsd to the (Con federate cause, and also a faithfdl D. A. R.. She attended private schools in Charleston and spent a great part of her life at the family home, "Snnny Hill Plantation”, near Saunders creek, above Camden, now the property of Clifford M. Leonard, one of the lovely ante bellum hornet of Camden. Miss Mickle then moved to Cam den. Funeral services 'were held at 4 p. m., November 6, from the Pres byterian church, of which she wm a devoted member and Interment was in the Mickle enclosure In the Quaker cemetery. She la survived by several nieces and nephews. Those living In Cam den are: 8. H. Mickle, Mrs. E. B. Llnch, Mrs. Edgar Marsh.
