A Hit And Run Charge
Jeremiah Thames of Dalsell ia to a
hospital in a serious condition as the
result of being struck by a hit and
run drirer on the Camden-Sumter
highway near Dalsell. last Saturday
night,
OUie Dinkins, colored, is being held
in the county Jail on a charge of
hitting Thames and failing to stop
and render asaistance.
The accident occurred about 8 p.
m, near the railroad crossing Dsl-
sell. A business man of Dalsell, a Mr.
Brabham of Dals^l effected tte cap

the Jail in Sumter by him.
Thames is reported to have a com-,
pound fracture of one leg, bad abra
sions of the skin, a bad cut on hto
bead and he suffered from loss of
blood and shock.

Aided by a hole-in-one on the
etoventb bole of the Kirkwood golf
course here Tuesday, a promising
amateur golfer. DeLoaoh.Sheom, fired
a biasing 80 on the back nine of the
tough Donald Roes built course.
The ace was made with a No. 7
lron''on the par 8, ISS-yard eleventh.
This shot put Sheorn back In the run
ning in the match as he made the
first nine in 48. This was bis first
round of golf after a several weeks’
lay-dK. Sheom was playing with
Mortie Muller, John VUliplgue and
Bill Goodale.
This is the first post-war ace shot
made at the Kirkwood coarse. In 1941
Captain Roy Wright, now Colonel
Wright, scored an ace on the No. 11
hole. He was playing at that time
with Joe McKaln and Meesrs. Cornell
and Brown, the latter two being with
the Southern Aviation school, Wright
at the time waa Post Commander.
On Sunday DeLoach will be paired
in an exhibition match with Stanley
Duda against Johnny and Bob Spence
of Columbia. Duda la a promising
young pro who has Jnst completed
four and a half year In the army.
This match win get under way at
2:80 and the public is Invited to at-
