And there isn’t any reason at all why Camden cannot have a high school team. Hunal Small, now a captain in the army, should be out of service short ly afler’ the first of the year and if he returns to take over the berth of agricultural teacher in the high school he will be available as a baseball coach to work with Athletic Director Lindsay Pierce. Small showed good ability as a baseball coach before he left to enter the service. The Black Jack Beagle Club will hold its second A.K.C. sanctioned Held trials at Its headquarters, the Shiver and Shiver farm, December 14 and 16. The farm is located 12 miles south east of Camden. ^ This is the second event of Its kind ever to be held in this part of the State. It is a rapidly growing sport, the purpose of which is to promote the breeding and mnning of Beagle bounds under Judgment and to' de termine their warranted merits. The first event was held at the Shiv er and Shiver farm on May 19 and was enjoyed by the many who attend ed. Nearly a hundred Beagle bounds ran in the two combined classes at the time. 'The extension of the meet to a two day affair is for the purpose of accommodating more entries. The Held trial will be under the fol lowing Judges; G. E. Campbell of Greenville and Bundy Williams of Marsbville, N. C., will be judges In the 13” combined class and Joe Holli day of Belton and Fred Koontz of Salisbury, N. C.. will be Judges In the 16” combined class. The time of drawing will be at 8; SO a.m. each morning at the club house and the running will start at 9 o’clock and will continue until each class is finished. As a special attraction there will be a peck stake earii afternoon and a special award will'be given to the dog scoring the highest general average. The .ribbons and prizes for this trial will be on display at the Hotel Camden here where the public Is invited to view them and gain a clear idea of wbjat the Beaglers are doing to make the trial a success. A country-»tyle pit barbecue will be served at noon each day of the trials at the club house. 'Persons Interested in Joining the club msy contact the field’ trial secretary at the club house on the day of the trials or write to R. B. Blyther, Box 99, R-l, Bisbop- ville, for application blanks. The trial is open to non-members as well as members of the club. Entries are open to all beagle hounds not exceed ing 15 inches in height across the front shoulders.
