Not every young man and woman is endowed with aptitudes for the natural sciences. I hope that some where in the program an unfolding place will appear for young people whose talents are for the more prac tical things of life. After all, we all know that great oaks come only from small acorns. This brings me back to the third report to which I referred above. What about the leUer from the high school teacher In Mid West? Industrial and business employes) and I see how each would benefit by better under standing of the other. To me It seems that world unity as well as com munity welfare, will best be promoted by home unity through better under standing of our nearest neighbors.” This neighborly message has real significance today because it speaks for the people who must put any American program for either fnll em ployment or world peace into practi cal action. No chief executive on earth, whether Marshall Stalin or President Truman, or any other hon ored leader, can lead without follow, ers. Tn the end It will be the citizens —particularly the citizen now In schools—who will be the cnleC sxecu- tlves of any program. This applies to education In every form and in every community. This corrMpondent from the heut of our country has begun In the rignt way. Our key groups of people (the farm group, the factory group, and the sales group) together must face the common fact that the real goal of all is not selfish “pressure,”—but national progress.
