The meet ing was an enthusiastic affair and the attendance was kept under the ODT restriction, there being 48 present. It was emphasized at the meeting that thousands of patriotic Americans eligible for membership in the organi- tstion are awake to the dsjpgers that confront the nation. It wsis pointed out that It Is the duty of one and all to secure for membership all eligible men who can qualify and assist In perpetuating the obj^ts and princi ples of the order, Attends Funeral Of Her Brother Mrs. Z. Z. Barfield and Mrs. David lleltoo. Jr.. Rutledge street, attended the funeral service* held for Jesse j Mitchum. 49, held at the Klngstree Baptist-church Saturdajs-Aprtt *8, at 5 p. m. with Rev. Jean M. Oreer, pas- tor, assisted by Rev, W, M. Mitchum of the Black River district officiating, - Istennent took place In the Mount Hope cometery near Qreeleyvllle. The deceased Is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruby M. Mitchum, two sons, James and Lloyd, and two sisters, Mrs Z. Z. Barfield of this city, and Mrs. H. M. Morris of Greeleyvllle; also several nieces and nephews. De- trased was a World war veteran and was given a miliUry funeral. He was born and raised In Williamsburg i-ountj. No Inquest In Cameron Death There will be no Inqnewt in the death of John Thonuui Cameron, ivho died at his home in Logoff Saturday night as the result of a gunshot wound according to Deputy Sheriff J H. McL^, Jr. The deceased leaves his widow, Mrs. Maude Cameron, six sons, Edwin of Dentsville, J. T. of Columbia, Wil- Uam wlUi the Navy, Bagene of the U. S. Army, Oliver of the Army, and Paul of Lugoff, ^80 one daughter, Bmlly ot Charleston. Funeral servioes were held Tues day morning at 11 o'clock at the xraveside In Quaker csmetrey.
