Mrs. Pearl King spent Sunday in Lynchburg with reltives. Priends will regret to learn that Miss Mildred Harris, 6th grade teach er, is ill at her home in Bishopville. Mrs. Homer Fields of Charleston, visited Miss Margaret Fields Monday. Mrs. Jack Davis and Mrs. Wilson Seale of Birmingham, have returned home after visiting Mrs. Davis’ par ents. Mr. and Mrp. C. L. Sanders of the United States Moines, in a South Pacific fighting sone, were happy when they received a letter from him under date of Oct. 1. In his letter Major Sanders 4eecrib- ed'how he was shot hy a Jap sniper on Sept. 23, the bullet passing through his left side. Surgeons found the bul let had not injured any vital organ. Jr., son of Mrs. Hughey 'nndal, Sr., 1509 Pair strget. has been reported missing in action 0j«r Italy. He was a gunner in the aerial engineers of th* 12th Army Air forces. Sergeant Tindal was one of the out standing young men of^this city and ctunmunity. 1 A graduate of the Cam den High ijchool, he was attending Clemson couege when he entered the service in March, 1943. During his school career he was outstanding in athletics, particularly in football and basketball. He is 19 years old. Sergeant Tindal received his train ing following his entering the service at Amarillo, Texas, and Les yegas, Nevada. On Januju'y 17. while here on leave, he was married to Miss Helen Burns of this city.
