That the American Legion, in a letter to the news editor of The Camden Chronicle ejqtressea hla appreciation for the support tendered him in the paper in the recent Junior baseball -controversy in South Carolina. ’The Chronicle was the only newspaper in the state to take up the cudgels in behalf of Mr. ChaiUaux's behalf. In his letter to The Chronicle, news writer, Mr. ChaiUanx encloses copy of a letler that he sent to D. Ernest Foster, commander of the Richland County Poet No. 6, Columbia, In' which be pulls no punches In dealing with the telegrkm that was sent by Foster in which the latter charged that Ch^llaux had arbitrarily dis criminated against the Richland Post in ruling ^Red Hollis ineligible. Mr. Challlaux stated in l^ls letter Toster has the wrong Impression re garding the eligibility roles involved. He declared after the Columbia team was certified to his office as state champion after Spartanburg had been ruled out, the national office checked each player on the taam for national tournament play. Hollis was found ineligible In this process. This state ment of Cbaillaux resulted from the declaration by Foster that no protest had been made by a South Carolina team. One was not necessary it feems. Mondamin, where the Camden football squad is engaged in enjoying an outing and also in getting conditioned for the football program that opens with the Brooklyn-Cayce team on the evening of Friday. Sept, 15. First of all I want to tell the folks at home that all of the boys are well, in fact, you never aaw such a healthy gang. And why not? They are get^ ting plenty of fresh air, good food, lots of exercise and good refreshing sleep. For it- is nice aad -cool-up- here nights and take it from me, one can sure pound his ear. The program so far has bee'n a strenuous one and the boys will be in fine shape for the fnlal touchea be fore the season opens.
