The members of the Thursday After
noon Bridge club were guests of Mrs.
WUllapi O. Nettles at her homa on
Laurens street on last Thursday after
noon. Invited to play with the Club
were Mrs. H. E. Beard, Jr., Mrs. J. B.
Cantey and Mrs. Jack Nettles. Two
tables were In play In the living room
which was lovely with many arrange
ments of Spring flowers and shrubs.
Table prizes were awarded Mrs. Lane
Woodcock and Mrs. Jack Nettles. De
licious refreshments were served and
mints and nuts placed on the card
tables.

GIVES LOVELY TEA PARTY
One of the loveliest affairs of the
Spring was the tea given by Mrs.
Daniel B. Mackey at her home on
North Mill street on Monday after
noon. Mrs. Mackey greeted her guests
at the door and directed them Into
the dining room where a beautifully
appointed tea table was presided over
by Mrs. W. P. Nettles, Br. vAsslsting
In serving were Mrs. M. Lee 'Mays and
Mrs. Maurice Clay. Masses of Spring
flowers were used artistically through
out the entire hottsev the tea table was
centered with a low bowl of hyacinths
and* plum blossoms flanked by white
tapers in antique milk glass candle
sticks. Seventy-five guests called be
tween the hours of four and six.

rally in Columbia.
Mrs. Bnhnie McLaughlin gave an In-
spring talk on “Women In Service.’’
She told them of the work done In the
various branches of the service and
particularly In the WACs, of which
she was a member. She described the
workings of the WACs step by step
and explained Its importance. The
Auxiliary voted to recruit three young
ladles, during this nation-wide drive,
from Kershaw county.
Special music was furnished by Rev.
Collins, who sang as a solo, “Little
Mother of Mine.’’

Immediately after the ceremony an
informal reception was held. Fruit
punch and individual cakes were
served by Misses Mary Nell Hall,
Edith Reynolds, Mildred Marsh, Mar.
Jorie Waters and Lura Lillie, slater of
the bridegroom. Elarly spring flowers
were used in the dining room with
an arrangemept of Easter lilits on the
table.
