Rev. and Mrs. A. Douglas McArn left on Monday for the mountains of North Carolina, where they will spend the next two weeks. They were accompanied as far as Asheville by Mrs. T. Leo Little, who will visit relatives there. , . Corp. Laurie West, Marine corps, who is stationed at New River, N C., spent a few days in Cassatt and Camden with relatives. She is the first member of the Marines from this section and was mos^. attractive in her becoming uniform. Lieut. Henry Claussen, formerly civilian flight instructor at the Southern Aviation school, has been ordered to Shaw Field as an instructor in basic flying. He has been at Maxwell Field, Ala., since obtaining his re, lease from the 64th AAFFTD. Lieut. Claussen visited friends here on i Tuesday evening. I Cpl. A D. Moore, who Is in the administration branch of the Royal Air Force at Moncton, New Brunswick. Canada, has been spending his furlough here with Mr. and Mrs. A. C. i McKaln. He was a cadet at the Southern Aviation school with the first class of British cadets sent to this country for training In our air force. J CR08BY-WEST On Saturday, August 14, 1943, Miss i Mary Helen Crosby of Islandton, became the bride of Mr. Nathaniel C. M. West of Cassatt. The bride is the attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Crosby of Islandtoh, but she has been making her home for some time in Charleston. Mr. West is the son of Mr. W. N. and the late Mrs. West of CasBatt. He Is now with the U. S. Navy at Balqsbrldge, Md. The marriage was performed in' Camden by Probate Judge N. C. Arnett, a close friend of the family. This marriage is of much interest | to many friends and relatives in KerBhaw county and throughout South Carolina. Only a few of the close relatives attended the ceremony. t I CAMDEN WOMAN RECEIVE8 HONOR | Mrs. Lessie O. Whitaker of Camden, and member of the Hobkirk Hill chapter of the Daughters of the I Revolution, wrote a story of Pochontas, the famous Indian Princess, j The story was sent to the Reviewing committee for Inclusion in the | National Lending and Filing bureau. Historical papers are sent in from chapters all over the U. S. A. Mrs. Whitaker has just been notified that her story has been accepted by the National committee, which is considered a very great honor. ' CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY Master Sidney Zemp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney T. Zemp, N. Mill street, played host to 25 of his playmates Monday afternoon *at 5 o'clock. The occasion was the 6th birthday of this popular little gentleman. Games were played and at six o'clock Mrs. Zemp invited the young guests. Into the screened porch where a beautifully decorated table centered with a birthday cake with six yellow candles was cut by Little Sidney and served to his guests by his mother, Mrs. Robin >. J AME$-KNOB LOCK Quaint little Bethesda Presbyterian church was the scene of a lovely wedding Saturday evening, August 14. at 7:30 o'clock, when Miss Patricia Ames of Miami, Fla., and Baldwin, L. became the bride of Lt. Bruce ? D. Knoblock of the Southern Aviation school and Sturgeon Bay, W'aconsin, The pastor, Rev. A, Douglas McArn, using the double ring ceremony, of-' flqiated in the presence of the immediate families and fellow officers and their wives. -The church was beautifully decorated with Southern smllax, standing' baskets of white flowers and sevenbranched candelabras holding white 1 cathedral tapers. Before the ceremony Mrs. ('. Q. Knoblock, mother of the bridegroom and a former concert soloist sang "Because." She was accompanied by Mrs. A. Douglas McArn, organist. The * traditional wedding marches were played. The bride, a charming brunette^ was lovely in a two piece suit of white pebble crepe with embroidered motifs. With this she wore a starched calot of white pique with short white veil. Her accessories were white and her flow- * ers were a shower bouquet of white gladioli and fresias. She was given in marriage by her father, Charles P. Ames. Miss Antoinette Ames, sister of the brid^, was maid of honor. She wore a street length dress of aqua blue crepe With white accessories and a shoulder corsage of Richmond Red roses. Lt. Henry C. Benitez, classmate of Lt. Knoblock at* the Southern Aviation school, was best man. Mrs. Ames, mother of the bride, was gowned in a poudre blue crepe dress with matching straw sailor and A corsage of yellow tea roses. Mrs. Knoblock, mother of the groom, wore a suit of navy blue and while polkadotted sheer, navy blue accessories and her flowers were pink rose buds. Immediately following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Ames entertained at an informal receptioh in the dining room at the Hotel camden. Punch was served from a tastefully appointed table centered with a crystal bowl of white altheas and Shasta daisies and flanked by white tapers in double ' crystal holders. Navy accessories and a gardenia corsage completed her costume. The bride was a former resident of the DeKalb section and of this city. She was a graduate of Baron DeKalb High school and following her school career she has been employed in the traffic d^artment of the Southern I Bell Telephone company.
