Lindsay, Miss Alberta Team and Miss Cora Richey presented a program emphasizing the objective of the birthday offering this year. The offering taken at the conclusion of the progrkm will be used for the spiritual^ welfare of the Negroes in the Southern Presbyteriaii . church. Mrs. I. R. Hayes gave a report of the meeting of Presbyterial which was held In Columbia. A report of the meeting was also read from Mrs. Edwin Muller, who was out of town and could not be present. During the social hour delicious punph and cake was served. Douglas Wooten To Graduate Richard Douglas Wooten, son of Mrs. F. M. Wooten of Lyttleton street, Camden, is a candidate for graduation from Furman university in Greenville on June 1. Mr. Wooten is a candidate for the Bachelor of Ar^s degree. While attending Furman Mr. Wooten has played a prominent part in student affairs. He has this year served as president of the Beta Kappa fraternity and has held membership in the Economics club. Occasioning cordial social Interest In this city, where the couple is prominently Identified, is the marriage of Miss Anna Mary Shields, daughter of Mrs. William Bry Shields of. Mobile, to Hamilton Osborne of Columbia. S. C., lieutenant, United States Army Air corps, stationed at Maxwell field. The wedding took place on the afternoon of May 16 at the Church of the Ascension, with the Rev. Pierce N. McDonald, rector, officiating. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Bry Shields. She wore a gown of white chiffon combined with Chantllly lace, a small flowered hat, and carried a prayer book showered with stephanotls. Miss Margaret Osborne, sister of the bridegroom, was the bride's only attendant, and Lieut. William Perdew was the bridegroom's best man. A small reception followed the ceremony, given at Governor's House by Governor and Mrs. Frank M. Dixon for the wedding party and out-of-town guests. Adorning the bride's table were the beautifully embossed wedding cake surrounded at the base by a wreath of gardenias, and white candles in tall candelabra. Mrs. Osborne is the daughter of Mrs. William Bry. Shields and the late Mr. Shields of Mobile. She was educated at the city schools of Mobile and attended Wesleyan college at Macon, Ga. The bride is a lovely and charming brunet. Lieutenant Osborne, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Osborne of Columbia, was born ^n Camden, S. C. He was educated in the Camden city schools and at The Citadel, Charleston, S. C., and also took an engineering course at the University of South Carolina, Columbia. CEssex Troop Band Plays Here Today A mass graduation of all participants in Red Cross courses will be held at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon at 7:30. Certificates will be awarded to all who have successfully completed the course in first aid,, canteen, nutrition, motor corps, black-out driving, and nurse's aid. The diplomas for black-oyf driving are to be awarded by Colonel Skidmore, who conducted this part of the Red Croas school.
