The Woman's Missionary Society held their regular monthly meeting at the church on Wednesday afternoon. After singing "What a Friend Wo Have In Jesus," Mrs. Kuuuey, the president, announced that the Sunbeam ltand would have charge of the program. After singing "JeBua Wants Me For a Sunbeam." by the band, C. J. Baiter read the 100th Psalut, and asked all to Join them In praying together, the Lord's prayer. Mary Holland recited "Spelling lx)ve"; Jessie J Mao Holland then read the 23rd Psalm; l'arkor Hatfield, Jr., gave the Ten Commandments; Furman Baker, recited a paper, "Fair Play," after which Llla Baker, the Sunbeam leader, read a paper on "The Joy of Workllig With Sunbeams." She then made a report on what the band had done this year and asked tho entire audience to Join them in singing "Bring Them In," while Thomas Baker took a special collection to ilx Thanksgiving baskets for the old folks of tho neighborhood. This concluded their program and then Mrs. Konney made a very Interesting and instructive talk on China, quoting quite a bit from Dr. and Mrs. Koyall, returned missionaries, the first white mau and woman to enter several of the interior towns of China about forty years ago. Dr. and Mrs. Royall were speakers at the Quarterly W. M. S. meeting of the Kershaw Association In October, held at Bethune?seven of our members being present. Mrs. W. F. Baker then made a report on tho meeting held at Bethune. This being the time to elect officers the following were re-elected: Mrs. W. R. Kenney, president; Mrs. W. F. Bakir, vice president; Mrs. Ix;roy Rogers, treasurer; and Mrs. Ernest McManus was elected secretary to succeed Mrs. S. G. Lenoir who resigned. Senator Robert R. Reynolds of Asheville, defeated Charles A. Jonas of Lincolnton, by more than 135,000 votes in the recent senatorial election in North Carolina, tho reported vote for Reynolds being 298,743 and for Jonas 161,278. > i Capt. ' 1 Could This Happen In Kershaw County? Mrs. Harrlman was admitted to a uberculosis hospital three weeks ago. Her husband and six year old son, Ted, were parking In front of the hospital doorway to make their first fislt. Mr. Harriman's expression sudlenly changed from a look of expectation to one of keen disappointment. Dn the door was a sign, "Children not idmitted." All the way to the sanatorium Ted had talked about seeing 'Mumsey." He had brought her a small gift purchased with his own spending money. He must not be disappointed now; he had missed his mother keertly; had begged many timea dally to visit her. "I'll fix It," said Mr. Harrlman;'Tll leave Ted here with you Joe. Maybe the nurse will roll the bed noar the window; the boy must see his mother." The child reluctantly gave the precious gift to his father and stayed in the car with his Uncle Joe. After a long, long time, Mr. Harrlman returned smiling. "Watch that window son, the nurse said she would have mumsy near the window in ten minutes." "Which window did you say, daddy, which window? I don't see mumsy. Are you sure she will' come to the window? How long will I have to wait? Oh! There is a nurse near the window; maybe It will be soon. Daddy* daddy, there Is mother; there's mum sy; she is waving the handkerohief I* brought her. But, daddy, mumay looks sick; is she going to come home, ever?" In a moment Mrs. Harrlman waB gone from the window to be separated from her little family for many ~ months.
