Sumter, March 15, was complimented with a lovely bridge tea given Friday afternoon by her aunt, Mrs. vAV. it. Zemp. Arrangements of spring flowers were used In tho card rooms and a miniature bride aud groom marked the honor guest's place. She also received from tho hostess a gift of linen. Prize for high soero whui to Miss Elizabeth Clarke and Mrs. Harry Hampton, of Columbia, cut the consolion. Several guests called after cards when tea was served in the dining room. Mrs. W. R. DeLoache presided at the tea service and Mrs. John Nettles at tho cofTee service. The spring flowers and other party decorations carried out a color note of yellow and white. Daffodils, spirea, and lighted white taptrs centered the lovely tea table. Mrs. Hugh Billups' lovely party on - Saturday afternoon was also-in compliment to Miss Virginia DeLoache. ScoreB were kept on bridal tallies and Mrs. Joe McKain received the prize for high score, Mrs. Charlie DeLoache the one for low score, and the floating prize went to Mrs. Jack Nettles. Marking the plaCe of the brideelect was a corsage of pink carnations and her gift from the hostess was a piece of flat silver in her chosen pattern. Mrs. Spencer, at whose home the party was held, presented the honor guest with a piece of oldj - family allrer. Mrs. W. R. DeLoache poured tea at a prettily appointed table which was centered with, a bowl of jonquils flanked by green tapers. Miss Ruth DeLoache, Mrs. Lee Mayes and Miss Emily Zemp assisted in serving delightful refreshments. The cabin supper given at a shack at hermitage Lake Saturday evening wai another delightful courtesy for Miss DeLoache and her fiance, John Fishburne. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie DeLoache and Miss Barbara Zemp ' entertained jointly for the members of the wedding party. A cirstal bowl of bridal wreath and green candles made the centerpiece for thhr*table,> frptn which a buffet supper .was served. BOYD Florence, March 5.?Mrs. Annie Wheeler Flowers has announced the marriage of her daughter, Miss Frances Flowers, and Jack Jefferson Boyd, of Camden and Georgetown The ccrc mony look place December 11 in Blshopville, with the Rev. J. T. Littlejohn officiating. Mrs. Boyd is the daughter of the late R. B. Flowers, of Darlington, and Mrs. Flowers. She is a graduate of St. John's high school and of the Durham Beauty academy, Durham, N. C. For the past year she has been employed in the Florencla Beauty Shoppe, of this city. Mr. Boyd is the son of Jeff W. Boyd, formerly of Camden, now. of Jacksonville, and the late Mrs. Mary Nicholson Boyd. He is a graduate of the Camden high school and of The Citadel. He~is employed as chemist with the Soqthern Crafts Paper mill, of Georgetown, where he and Mrs. Boyd will make their home. Musical Offering "Stalner's Crucifixion," one of the best beloved of all sacred cantatas will be presented on Good Friday evening, April 15, at Grace church by the Grace church choir, assisted by vocalists from the choirs of the Presbyterian, Methodist and Baptist churches in Camden.' It is expected there -wtH?be?forty voices in?tbia splendid musical offering. The directloh of the big chorus will be handled by Dr. Maurice Clarke, of Grace church, assisted by Mrs. Douglas McArn. All lovers of sacred music will be pleased to know that this great number, "The Crucifixion," is to be offered them. The music was written by 8ir John Stalner, organist and choir milter At Westminster Abbey In London, England. The words were selected and some of them especially written by Rev. D. 8parrow Simpson, canon of the Abbey. The first time the great .Jhusical effort was presented was in the Abbey and by the combined choirs of the Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral. All Request Program Sunday Evening Another of the delightfully informal 8unday evening concerts by Philip Felnne and his orchestra trio will be given at 8:15 p. m., In the music room of the Klrkwood betel. This Sunday's concert will be an all request program, and will Include Mr. Felnne's arrangement of the Fire Dance of De Falla and a potpourri of the works of Peter Tschalkowsky. The public Is cordially Invited and is advised to come early as last week's concert found the^music room taxed to capacity and seats were not available to latecomers.
