A very wide paved road has been built to the stadium, with six lanes of travel, looping to the stadium Ha the Hoyster road and across'to the ! Bluff road. But in udditlon the high ! way that runs by the main entrance | to the grounds has boon widened and this greatly increased paving will add much to the pleasure of the visitors. A handsome new cattle barn, painted red to keep up the state fair bundling color scheme, and a series of mod|orn new lunch stands, constructed of , bright corrugated Iron, are among the Improvements. The unsightly, makeshift eating stands that the fair has J wanted to tear down for so many years, hut has been unable to do so because of the expense, aw gone and lit their place the latest, most sanitary stands have been put up. Paper Tells How To Vacation At Home For those who have been unable to take u vacation during the summer, the Baltimore Sun suggests that it is not yet too late to have all the thrills of a summer resort right at home. Here Is how it may be done: Move into the smallest bedroom in your house; if possible one immediately over the kitchen. If your bed is soft and downy, put a couple of bricks in it. Dig a hole In the garden, get Into it and cover yourself up to the neck. When you get tired of this diversion, wash yourself off with the garden hose. DonVhave any clothes washed for two weeks. Sit on a rough board In the hot sun and hold a baited fishing line in your hand. If you wish to take a quiet nap In the afternoon, put a radio next to your bed and turn It on full blast. In the evening, remove the screens from the bedroom windows so that the mosquitoes can get in to you. Go up to the roof and expose yourself to the sun until you are nicely burned. Then take whatever exercises will make you stiff and sore. When you have wearied of all this and wish to return to a normal life, send yourself a bill for $20 to $25 a week and don't forget to give a nice fat tip to the cook. Cameron, United States consul general, said today that lite slate department had authorized Invalidation of all Amortcan passports st> far us entrance to China was concerned. Tho order. Issued September 18, he said, was mandatory regarding the passports of women and children but ui gent cases might be referred to Washington where the state department might authorize entry into tho war-stricken country. In the case of men, Cameron went on, the consulates were authorized to decide on the urgency of the requests themselves. It was reported that a group of Americans with visas for China had disembarked at Kobe, Japan, when the consulate stamped their passports with a withdrawal of United States protection. Huger Richardson, Loris physician, said 14 year old Robert Perry. Jr., was accidentally shot and killed today while playing with his younger sister near here. Richardson, who was called to the scene, said the boy was lying on a cotfeh and the little girl was playing with the shotgun when it discharged. She did not know it was loaded, he said. Yancey, 76, closed the window marked "United States Mail" in the countrystore, it marked the end of a thirtyyear career which has proven as exciting at times as it could be peaceful, in this small California town. In tho three decades Yancey has distributed letters from his grilled window, robbers have found their way eighteen times to the little store hidden behind rolling hills. They came at first by horseback, then on freight trains and. more recently, by automobile. Patricia Magulre, the "sleeping beauty-' of Oak Park, died in a Chicago hospital Tuesday without awakening from the strange slumber which overcame her February 15, 1932 Members of her family were gathered at her bedside.
