Creed, the present vice, president, was elected president, succeeding J. Team Gettys. Sheriff J.' H. McLeod was elected vice presl-1 dent; Elihu Schloshurg. secretary; I und Atnep Cooper was elected treas- , urer. Itev. Hryce Herbert, W. C. McCarley and M. 11. Williams were elect-! ed as members of the board of con- I trol to succeed the throe members who drop out at this time. The club udopted resolutions to be forwarded to the Seaboard Air Line railway and to the Public Service Commission of South Carolina look-1 ing to the erection of a passenger station by the Seaboard Air Line railway at the site of the proposed park at the overhead crossing just west of Camden. Because of the election of officers, there was no program at this, week's meeting. Kershaw Officer Does Blackface Act Rural Policeman James Hough, of, Kershaw, did a blackface act recently in making some arrests for viola- | tlon of the liquor laws of this state. Mr. Hough who lives near the town of Kershaw is a rural policeman in Kershaw county. According to reports Mr. Hough had suspected that liquor was being sold at places along the highway between Kershaw and Camden. In line of duty Mr. Hough tried to get some evidence but was unable to do so. Then he blacked his face to appear like a negro and taking a real negro with him he proceeded to visit these places along the highway. The .negro was sent in to purchase liquor at the places which were suspected of selling it while Mr. Hough with his face blacked sat in the car. Mr. Hough waited until the nqgro had completed his ransaction before he stepped into the picture. As a result of his operations it is said that there will be two or three liquor cases to come before the court of general sessions at the next erm of court at Camden.?Lancaster News. ANOTHER SOFTBALL TEAM (By Frank H. Heath) When the Twilight league swings into the second half of the season's pennant chase, there will be a ulne and possibly a ten. club lineup, according to the bureau' of recreation. Already a ninth club has been organized and applied for a place in the league roster and there la a prospect of a tenth team being registered before the week is over. Director Heath of the bureau of recreation has already drafted a nine club schedule beginning July 12 and carrying up to and Including September 22. A ten club schedule is now being prepared in the event that two more teams are added to the present . eigh? club lineup. I The ?J.nth team will be essentially | a merchants group, but in as much as there is already one merchant# team in the league, the. new team will j be officially registered as the "Variety Stores." Two Camden Boys Enter Annapolis Two Camden boys, McKain Richards and Jack Halsall, were recently accepted Into the United States Naval academy at Annapolis, Md., and have reported for duty. Both boys are graduates of Camden high school In the class of 1936 and have spent the last year at the Marion Institute, Marion, Ala. Jack Halsell 1a the son of Mrs. Smyrl Halsell of this city.
