Emergency Loan For Crop and Feed Applications for Emergency crop and feed loans for 1937 are now being received at the court house, Camden, S. C., by H. E. McElveen, Field Supervisor. These loans will be made only to farmers who cannot obtain credit from any other source, as provided by regulations issued by the governor of the Farm Credit Administration. The money loaned will be limited to the fanner's immediate and actual cash needs for growing his 1937 crops or for the purchase of feed for livestock and in no instance may exceed $400.00. Farmers are not eligible for these loans if they can borrow from an individual, production credit association, bank, or other concern. Emergency crop and feed loans will not be made by the Farm Credit Administration to standard rehabilitation clients of the Resettlement Administration whose current needs are provided for by Resettlement. As in the past, the security for these loans will consist of a first lien on the crop financed if the loan is for the production of crops, and if for the purchase of deed for livestock, then a first lien on the livestock to bo fed. Landlords, or others having an interest in the crops or the livestock to be fed, will be required to waive their claims in favbr of the lien to the governor of the Farm Credit Administration until the loan is repaid. Checks in payment of the approved loans will be issued by the Regional Emergency Crop and Feed Loan office, at Columbia, S. C. Future Farmers Chapters are Active Future Farmer Chapters in Kershaw County are busy raising money for F. F. A. camp on State Fair grounds. Under the leadership of W. 13. Stevenson and officers of their F. F. A. Chapter, the Midway agricultural class had a sho\v Tor the purpose of raising funds. W. H. Carter of Baron DeKalb and his F. F. A. members had a dance for the purpose of raising money. The Camden F. F. A. is sponsoring a boxing team to raise some money for camp and other promotional activities. Fred Moseley, operator of Town Tavern, is coaching the boxing team and the boys are showing up well. The Blaney and Bethune chapters have plans under way to raise their pro-rata share. There are several means of raising funds: Minstrels, plays, moving pictures, boxing, wrestling, basket ball games, high school carnivals and getting ads for papers. Cooperative activities such as: Mixing and selling poultry feed, buying fruit trees and shrubbery, pruning and spraying, making and selling farm articles such as self feeders, terracing drags, sharpening tools, culland caponlzing, barbecues, terracing. These are numerous cooperative activities which bring out initiative, leadership, ingenuity, thrift and a good fellowship. These camps are being developed over the state.?Paul Jordan, Reporter.
