V. WALSH, JR. W. P. NETTLES R. M. KENNEDY A. S. LLEWELLYN Camden. S C\, May 16, 1935 S Dime Letter Scheme Declared Illegal A ruling on the "send a dime" I chain letter racket was received Friday /rom Washington by Postmaster C. P. DuBose. The ruling was sent out from the office of the Solicitor and dated Muy 8. It is as follows: "The attention of all postmasters is called to the fact that the so-called "send a dime" chain letter scheme and similar enterprises now being operated through the mails at various points is in violation of the postal i lottery and fraud statutes (sections (501 and 2350, J*. L. and K., 1032). This information should be commun| icated to all j>ersons making inquiry I as to the legality of the scheme. W. j K. Kelly, Acting Solicitor." | Violation df the sections referred j [to is punishable by heavy line or imprisonment or both. The postamster , has the right to open any letters he suspects of being in violation of the law. The chain letter scheme has been thriving in Camden for the last ten days, but apparently is beginning to lose interest. Only a few of the hundreds who have mailed out letters have received any return for their efforts. Like all other get-rich-quick schemes this one is destined for an j early death. _ 3 lbs, g For (50c CIGHTOi OOASTfc -J#i O'CLOCK | cwQuno TO OKoit ;a COffC I |-^35C:bokar2,,45C (;I;\\hm:)thkr'S 8 SLICED PAW LOAF 6c [ aky I GBAPEFRUIT No. 2 Csn 1 5s | ?
