The Sophie Zemp Cirele of the Methodist church held their regular monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon *t the home of Mrs. B. P. DeLoadhe. Mrs. J. B. Queen was in charge of the program and after a brief devotional period gave an interesting lesson, using for her theme, "Jesus." An informal open discussion was held on "The Oitisenship of the Mexican Mother." Following the business session the hostess was assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Malcolm Bryant, in serving refreshments. Mias Cureton Hostess to Club Miss Betty Oureton entertained her bridge club on Wednesday' evening of this week. This was the first meeting of the club, which was organised this week. The members include: Misses Carolyn tiouser, Willie Haile, Betty Cureton, Katherine Boykin; Charles DeiLoache, Edward Wooten, Walter Wooten and Lawson Bateman. . 1 ' Miss (DeLoache Was Hostess Miss Jenny Darby, of Sumter, was honor guest at a lovely informal bridge tea on Monday afternoon when Miss Virginia DeiLoache entertained at her home on Fair street. Following- the -games -of- contract bridge lovely sandwiches, cakes and coffee were served to the following guests: 'Misses Gertrude Zemp, Tommy 1 Guthrie, Frances Bissell, Mary Cureton, Dotty Zemp, Betty Cureton and Mrs. Foxworth, of iSumter, sister of the guest of honor. Had Lovely Birthday Party One oI the most attractive children'# affairs given this season waa the valentine party which Mrs, Jerome Hoffer gave oh Wednesday af-< temoon of this week honoring the eighth birthday of her little daughter, Jane. . Forty-odd guests were present to enjoy this happy occasion. The usual familiar games were played and the prise winner \n the beanguessing contest was Margaret Cunningham. After .the games thd little folks were taken into the dining room, where the valentine motif was carried put in every detail. ? The table was centered with a large red heart upon which the lovely birthday cake was placed. On the cake were small hearts upon which the eight tiny red candles burned. Tall Ted tapers also graced the dining table from which was served ice cream, cake and candies. Brightly colored balloons ahd fancy crepe paper bags of candy were given as favors to each little guest. Miss Sterne Was Hostess On Monday 'evening Miss Maxine Sterne was hostess to the Spinster's Evening Bridge Club at the Camden hotel. Cut flowers and potted plants were attractively arranged about the rooms. High score was made by Miss Sterne. After -the games of cards the hostess assisted by her mother served most delicious refreshments. Garden Clut> To Meet The next meeting of the X&fflrdeir Garden Club will be held on Monday, February 8th, at 3:30 o'clock, at the homp of Miss Leila Shannon on Chesnut street. < Mrs. Morris Lumpkin, of- Columbia, will be a guest of the club and will speak oh the subject of spring, flowers.
