THE FASHION SHOP CAMDEN, S. C. Midway School News Friday, September 20, 1900 ende<l the first month of school work at Midway school for the session of 19.'10-.'11. Although the enrollment is not below the avcruge it is expected to increase during the coming months. The Lafayette Literary Society, composed of the entire student body of the hitfh school, met Friday for the first program which was very interesting. The completion of the election of officers was carried out by the president, Myrtle Klliott, and a plan devised whereby the society, divided into two croups and each with a captain, would stimulate more interest in the students and create friendly rivalry among them. The Vocational Agriculture boys met September .'10 and formed a Future Palmetto Farmers' Association. The following officers were elected: Elmer Joyner, president; Maurice West, vice-president, and Itill Hunnicult, secreatry and treasurer. It was decided at the meeting that the president would represent the associ 'I I ation at the State Fair School to be \ held in Columbia during State Fair week. On the whole the teachers think that the work done so far has been very successful and believe that with the coming of cold weather enthusiasm and school interest will grow throughout the year. Piagah last Saturday; the three latter furnished special music at thia meeting. The Bethune high school basket ball team has been reorganized for this season with the following officers: Coach, Miss Eloise Miller; captain, Miss Judith Stanton; business manager, 'Miss Edith Clyburn. The three circles of the Presbyterian auxiliary met on Tuesday afternoon ut the homes of Miss Tyson Bradley, Mrs. Margaret Marion and Mrs. 1 lomer Josey, respectively. < Mr. and Mrs. John " Bethune and Mrs. C. Caught In His Own Trap Spartanburg, Oct. 7.?A. B. Grayson, grocer, literally caught in his own trap, today had a gunshot wound in his thigh. Mr. Grayson had been troubled of' thieves so he set a gun trap. Returning to the store early the next morning, he stepped aroUnd a bit \ carelessly, set off the trap and was ' shot. ! He is expected to recover. Baptist Church Services The following services are announced for the week at the First Baptist church by the pastor, Rev. J. B. Caston: Sunday school at 10 o'clock. Mr. W. G. Wilson, superintendent; preaching at 11:15 and 7:30 by Rev. J. H. Byrd. The Sunday school officers and teachers will meet Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock. ( Senior B. Y. P. U. Thursday'evening at 8 o'clock; Junior B. Y. P. U. Sun* day evening at 6:30. The public is cordially invited to attend all the services of this church. . Woman Held for Death of Husband Dillon, S. C.? Mrs. Mary Eliza McNeill, alias Clara Johnson, was arrested near Wilmington, charged with murdering her husband, James McNeill, about three months ago, near Lakeview.
