And, cooperation, by the way, LI means setting your eye on a definite goal and not 11 giving up until final accomplishment II J ? Today, in Camden, in fact in most every town and city in the > > country, there looms the shadow of a giant octopus of modern business practice which threatens seriously the very life blood of the economic independence of the independent town or city. Whether we are to be subservient to this new economic order, bowing our heads irytfamjui! and docile submission or whether we are to accept this challenge from the standpoint of community permanency and betterment is for us, as consumers, to decide. The very factors that have made this new order possible, namely, ALL OF US, will also be the deciding factors, ultimately, as to whether j this situation will continue. If we, as property owners, business men, I i farmers, employees, farm hands, negroes or otherwise?have in the " 1 price of our farm products, made positions scarce, sooner or later to ; increase our taxes?it is time to wake up and consider the advantages j of spending our money where it will do the most good LOCALLY. j I 1 We should be interested in CAMDEN and KERSHAW COUNTY, arid I j not in fat profits for New York or elsewhere. I I Co-operation among all who are a part of the community, in I thinking twice and buying once will do much to divert most of the i money thru local channels. It is only when the dollar makes the local 1 I rounds to the butcher, baker, clothing man, hardware man, etc., that i it makes the local community a more prosperous community.
