Cameron erstwhile one of the leading citizen* of ttylacauga, Ala., waa brought back to state prison from whitj^he escaped 14 yeara ago, early ! tooay by Warden J. If, Norman, j Cameron, who waa known a* J, H. l>avi? in Alabuma, had become, during his years of freedom, the biggest hind owner of the seotion Jn which he Jived. He was the town's leading philanthropist and his word was his bond. VV ardeii Norman, who had received a tip that Cameron was; living in Sylacauga, found that the sheriff wouldn't arrest the man and the deputies assigned t<> aid in the recapture, openly displayed distaste at their mission. Ihe fugitive, however, accepted the recapture calmly and with good humor, Norman said. Cameron escaped from the prison in l'J14, after serving one year of a 20-year sentence for second degree murder. James Webb, another escaped convict, was also ,brought back after being arrested in the same Alabama town. Webb escaped last March after serving 18 months of a threeto-live-year sentence for larceny.
