Music Club W|i KeprM?Btc<l The Bethoven music club of Gamden was represented at the convention of the State Federation of music clubs in Orangeburg by two delegates, Misses Elizabeth Gardner and Luiem Holland: two contestants, Misses Francis Creed and Clara Holland; counsellor, Mrs. K E. Rembert, and one member, Miss Sophia Creed, which took place on April 13th and | 14th. On Friday evening from seven to ten a reception was given at the municipal hall at which Mr. and Mre. Whittington played many beautiful piano selections, also Mr. Ben P. UeLoache, Jr., of this city sang a number of lovely soloa. From 10 to i 12 banquets were given to both juniors and seniors, after which the counsellors, contestants and delegate were entertained in private homes until Saturday morning. The contest took place at ten o'clock, Miss Clara Holland, for untrained voices, and Miss Frances Creed for piano, parti cipating. The delegates .gave in their club's yearly report. Following the close a delightful dinner was served at the New Eutaw Hotel. The members of the Club were uc? companied there by Mrs. .Georgft Creed. . ' Statistics show that a murder was committed every 40 minutes in the tJnited States last year.
