A' typical case is one of a little eight year old girl, who is rather plump, of an extremely pasty complexion, and who falls sound asleep at her desk and, upon inquiry, find that the parents are using the hickory as the only remedy for this condition, advising the teacher to do likewise. This child will have the hookworm test and a physical examination to determine the cause of her condition. We are, as a state, still out of the registration area, due to lack of registration of births and deaths. We, who have spent so much time on this matter, are disappointed, for we were almost sure South Carolina would be back within ^the registration area this year. However, with the co-operation of all, perhaps another year will see us there. It is very * necessary that this county make good at the tuberculosis seal sale now in progress. A good sale means one or more tuberculosis clinics in this county. Last year we did not sell enough to have a clinic. The two previous years we did, and had clinics at different points in the county, thus giving an opportunity to many citizens to he examined for chest troubles. Killed Large Porkers "Killed three big hogs a few days ago and I want the weather to turn cooler on them," said W. M. Hayes, staunch farmer of the New Bethel section in Lancaster Friday. Two of the big porkers belonged to himself and one to his son, Minor, said Mr. Hayes, each averaging 400 pouruis, or a total of 1,200 pounds from the three. Mr. Hayes said helost a mule from blind staggers a few days ago and that when an animal was so afflicted, ^nothing could be done for them?they just went blind'and died, and that was all thc-re was to it, said Mr. Hayes.?Lancaster News. Died From Eeating Fireworks Sumter, Dec. 19.?Francis Butler, age 3, died here Friday night following the eating the day before of a "son-of-a-gun," a form of fireworks resembling a small piece of candy. The boy was given the disc by one of his brothers and before he could be stopped, swallowed it. He developed a headache Friday and in spite of all efforts to save his life, passed away last night. Mr. Hyatt was a Confederate veteran and served under Gen. Robert E. Lee throughout the war.
