Pays Widow's Claim Columbia, Oct. 2.?-A Claim foe $3,000 damages on account of the death of Asa Teague, highway department employe, who was killed accidentally while operating a tractor, was allowed today by Chief Highway Commissioner Samuel McCowan, when it was presented by attorneys for Teague's widow. It was the first death claim made on the department, according to the announcement of the action. Teague was killed last November in -Laurens county. Death From Peculiar Accident Cheraw, Oct. 1.?-Paul Melton, 23/ an employee of the Ingram Gas and Oil company here, was almost instantly killed last night when he was struck on the head by the tongue of a wagon, into which he had driven his automobile. The tongue of the wagoh was plunged through the windshield of the car with terrific force. Mr. Melton's wife was on the front seat of the car with him when the accident occurred. She was unhurt. They were driving onv one of the streets of the city and, according to the best. information obtainable, the blinding lights of an approaching car so confused Mr. Melton .that he did not see the wagon, around which the oncoming car had turned in passing.
