Charlotte, Dec. 2.? -The handsome
Duke mansion ami estate in Myers
Park, one of the residential show
places of the Southern States, has
been placed on the market for sale,
Although no official announcement
of the subject has corne from (i. G.
Allen, executor of the estate of the
late Duke, philanthropist and
owner yf the Duke mansion, it was
understood from authoritative source
1 that Mrs. Duke, to whom the Myers
Park estate was left, will receive of
fers for it. .v
Connected with the assertion that
1 the Duke mansion and envir</hs is
for sale, which dose friend* of Mrs.
Duke admit to lie true, was the re
port that Col. Leroy Springs, of Lan
caster, S. ('., Martin L. Cannon, of
Charlotte, and J. H. Cutter, of Char
lotte, are among the list of prospec
tive purchasers. One report was that
Col. Springs already has agreed to
buy this property, but Confirmation of
the report is lacking. .
The environs of the Duke residence
embrace seventeen acres of land in the
heart of Myers Park. The residence
itself and the other buildings on the
premises are estimated to be worth
half a million dollars or more..
Col. Springs, one of the multi
millionaire textile Tn agnate s of the
South, is known to have been- con
sidering for several years the pur
