The disposition of largo es tates upon the death of the owner entails a great responsibility upon the person who has accumulated the ?property during his or her lifetime. "Not only is it incumbent upon them to make wise disposition of the property for the benefit of those near and dear to them by reason of blood relationship, but every think ing man or woman, to whom has been entrusted the administration of con siderable estates during his or he. ?lifetime, should give serious thought and consideration to the manner in which that property should be di*? posed of at death so as not only to care for the interests of those who are dependent upon them but also so as to best advance the causes of religion, philanthropy, art and other great causes which should not be lost sight of by broad minded persons, "If due and careful attention is given to the matter of the prepara tion of wills, when persons are in sound haalth both in body and mind, much more benefieient disposition could be made of property upon the death of the owner thereof than where the state is left to handle th< property under our statutes of descent and disposition.". Votes A gainst Waterworks Florence, March 20.?by one vote, the proposal to build a new water works plant in Flore nee was lost in the election held here today. City Council sought authority to borrow $250,000 to put iruthe new plant to tak'e. the place of The artesian wells, .which are not giving an adequate -^mply. It was'council's intention to establish the plant on Black creek and use the water of that stream. The vote resulted 174 for the new plant and 17f) against. Only 385 per sons had registered for the election. It is not known what will be done now to solve the question, which has become acute. It is stated that the present city administration, which goes out of office on June 9, will take no further steps, leaving the proposition for the new administra tion to wrestle with. RKJECT8 OKDKR FOB CARS Dodge Factory Adhere Riff idly t<> No Discount Policy 1 ** ' '?Here is an order, duly signed by the proper executives, for 1,000 of your cars." What salesman wouldn't gulp and grab? Retail orders for motor cars in lotv of 1,000 come to the aventue salesman ab('?ut as often as ico peddlers visit the Eskimos. There are only a few in history. Vet the incident referred to- -about the signed order for 1,000 ears- ^ac tually happened. And what make it remaikable Is the fact that the salesman turned it down! says \Y. li. Dekoache, of the DeBoache Motor Company. .* C. II. Jennings, Dodge Brothers dealer in 'New York City, throws .some clarifying light on this puz7,lei\ H< .says: "This Dodge Brothers salesman ha 1 been working for several years on a large national account?a company that operates cars by the thousands, in every part of the country. The company was buying Dodge Brothers ears regularly, ten, fifteen and twenty and more at a time, On several oc casions the chief buyer had made the remark that, -if you fellows would only grant a discount, as others do, we might order in larger lots.' "The salesman, of course, pointed out the desirability of buying the 1,000 cars ^pyhow, regardless of Dodge 'Brothers no-discount policy, but the executive declined to recede from his position. The latter then prepared what he afterwards referred\ to as his psychological coup. He knew that the salesman would be calling again so he had an imposing document drawn up calling for the delivery, at a specified date, of 1,000 Dodge Brothers Motor Cars of va rious types, at full list price minus !0 per cent. "When the salesman called, a feu weeks later, the official simply hand ed him the order." " 'That's serious,' said the official, 'We need-cars and we want Dodg.. Brothers cars, but you can't have the order unles you abide by its term?_ You've got to give us the quantity discou nt.' "The salesman made the same an swer that he had always made be fore, but out ?-f deference to the customer and the exceptional size of the order, promised to take it up with the factory. The subject came before us when 1 was assistant genera! sales manager of Dodge Brothers." sai<l Mr. Jennings, "arid 1 distinctly, re member how quickly it was settled. There wasn't a moment's quibbling. M 'We want to do everything pos sible to retain this company's busi ness and good will,' said President T\ J. Haynes, 'but the ^policies- laid down by John F. and Horace Dodge are still the policies of this institu V ? ^ Are You Satisfied With the Crops ?Di y'0 IF N<>T HAVE VOl' CONSIDERED THE REASONS FOR YOUR FAILURE? 1 >i I > vol: FSE THK REST FERTIFIZERS OR JUST THOSE VOU COULD BUY i'HE A PEST? farmers who used Congaree Fertilizers made away above the average crop last year T'.i." i ElMii. \M ;> M'iKXTI FICALFY .MADE <>F THE VERY 15 EST AIA - ?. Mr. Hayncs also pointed out that it would l>e entirely unfair to the indi vidual buyer if ho were asked to pay a higher price for his car just to make it possible for Dodge Brothers to attract large buyers through the quantity discount. Moreover, he .said, j the company that buys 1,000 Dodge Brothers'cars already has an advan tage over the individual who buys one, because the natural advantages 01 Dodge Brothers ownership are multiplied a thousand times. ''What happened to the order for 1,000 tars? It is still in the desk of the same official and he never fails to show it to any Dodge Brother salesman who happens to call. Bu he is still buying Dodge Brother? ?ars--buying' as he bought before. "Like other nationally known con ccrns, he realizes that the sayjft^s of feeted through the, long life and low cost service of Dodge Brothers motor cars will more than offset any dix count that might be obtained on a car of less obvious merit."?adv. Bold Bobbery at Lancaster Unknown thieves during Fftday night entered the dry goods store of JJobinson-CloUd company in Lancas ter, carrying away clothing, shoes, dresses, hose, shirts, suit cases, etc., to the value of $500 it was estimated by R. B. Iiobinson head of the firm, Entrance to the store wa^ affecte.1 through a skylight on the top of the building, the thieves breaking one of the large glasses and descending iffto the store by means of a sash or awning cord attached to a ladder placed across the top of the skylight, and landing on the ballister railing around the deck used bv the milli nery department and for display of ready to wear. The theft, was dis covered by K. JV. Bailey, a member of the sales force, when he opened the store Saturday morning. Goods j in practically every department were scattered over the floor or turned topsy-turvy by the thieves in their "search for merchandiser of the best grade. As many as four suit cases are missing, these it is presumed, having been used by the thieves to carry- away-uny and everything that could be packed into them.
