Street Improve mentM of City of Camden, South Carolina. State of South Carolina, County of Kershaw, City of Camden, Be it Ordained by the Mayor and Al dermen of tin* ('ity of Camden, and by authority of the same: Section I. That the City Council of Camden gffera sale One Hundred Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars Cer ti flea tea of indebtedness for street improvements of the City of Camden, in denominations of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) each, said certifi cates to he due and payablo as fol lows; One-fifteenth on the 1st day of April, 1024; and one-tifteenth annu ally thereafter for fourteen consecu tive years from the 1st of April, 1024, together with interest from the date of the adoption of the Assess ment Roil, at the rate1 of six per cent. ( t ! jj~.or ceiil.) per annum, payable semi- annually. Section II. That sealed bids be re ceived by the City Council for said Certificates of Indebtedness until H:30 p. in. on Friday, the 20th day of June, 102.'}. That said bids then be publicly opened and read. That said certificates of indebtedness be sold to the highest bidder for cash at not less than par and accrued interest. Section III. That Fifty-nine Thou sand Dollars ($59,000.00) of said cer tifiates of indebtedness be delivered at once after said sale and the remain ing Forty-one Thousand Dollars ($4 1 ,000.00) of said certificates of'in debtedness to be delivered in blocks as may be*, herewftcr determined by the City Council, the purchasers to pay accrued interest on all certificates of indebtedness. Section IV. That the proposals or bids for said certificates of indebted ness shall be enclosed in a sealed en velope and marked on the outside, "Proposals for Certificates of Indebt edness" and addressed to the City Treasurer of the City of Camden, South Carolina. That bidders shall be required to deposit with the City Treasurer before making bids, or pre sent with their bids a certified check drawn to the order of the City of Camden, South Carolina, upon an in corpoated Hank or Trust Company, or a sum of money equal to two per cent (2 j?cr cent.) of the face amount of said certificates of indebt edness, to secure the municipality against any loss resulting from the failure of the bidder to comply with the terms of his or its bid. That the purchaser of said certificate* of indebt edness in to have printed and ,del?ver ed to the City said Certificates of in dcbtcdnevs ready for signatures with in fifteen ( 1 r? ) days after th c purchase of same, at the purchaser's expense; and said purchasers must deposit money in, payment of said certificates of indebtedness to the credit of the City of Camden, South Carolina, im mediately upon the receipt of said certificates of indebtedness. That the City shall reserve tb* right of reject ing any and all bids, Section V. That notice of the sale of said certificates of indebtedness be published in the local, Camden, South Carolina, papers, "The State" of Co-. Whereas, one-third of the electors, and one-third of the resident free holders of the nge of twenty-one years residing in Ridge Side School District No. 17, of the County and State aforementioned, havo addressed a petition to the County Board of Ed ucation for Kershaw County asking that an election be ordered to deter mine whether or not an additional tax of seven mills shall be levied on all real and personal property of the said District for school purposes. We hereby order said election to be held by the Trustees in said Ridge Side District No. 17, on Monday, July 0th, 1023, at Ridge Side School House. The polls to open at- 8 a. m. and close at 4 p. m. CLEMSON COLLEGE. Vacant Scholarship For Kershaw County. Competitive examinations to fill vacant four-year scholarships and one vacant two-year scholarship will be held at the County seat on Friday, July 13th, beginning at 9 a.m., under the supervision of the County Super inteivdent-of Education. 1. Fo^ -Year Scholarships. Open to students desiring to pursue four year cbXirses in Agriculture. Exam inations are to be given in high school English, mathematics, and history and in agriculture. Age requirement, 16 years or over at the time of entrance. Winners of scholarships must be prepared to meet also the require ments for admission. The value of each scholarship is $100 per session and free tuition of $40. Membership in the Reserve Offi cers' Training Corps ? R. O. T. C. ? is also equivalent in money to a schol arship during the last two years in college. The examinations may also be tak en for entrance credit by thoge not applying for a scholarship. 2.
