Sloan, the suit being brought to decide \vhether or not the act, which provides for weekly closed periods for net fishing in the waters ?f this state, is still in effect, in view of a later act, fixing an open season for shad fishing. The decision of Judge Smith upholds the conten tion of Chief Game Warden A. A. Richardson tkat the law prohibits shad net fishing in streams between sunset of Saturday and sunrise of Wednesday. District Convention of Presbyterian Church Saturday and Sunday. The District Convention of tho South Carolina (,'hristinn Kndeavor Union held its meeting Saturday and Sunday in tho Presbyterian church in Camden,- Notwithstanding the bad weather quite a number of dole-. Kates wore present and took part in the exercises. Among those in atten dant- were: J. Arthur Flanagan, state president, of Howling' Green; Charles Phifer, Jr,, president of the Columbia district; Charles Douglas, ?Georgo W. Mack, Marshall Woodson and Wilkes Dendy, seminary students of Columbia. Mr. Woodson filled tho pulpit at the morning services Sunday and gave an interesting talk to the children as well as the grown ups. Other delegates took part in the proceedings, making suggestions help ful to Christian Kndeavor work. New officers elected were: Jeff Paten, Kastover, president; Charles l'hifer, Jr., vice president; Nan Cop?? land, of Chicora College, secretary and treasurer; Mary Hayes", of Ker shaw, junior superintendent. The time of the next meeting was changed from February to Octobcr and Winnsboro will very likely be tho next place of meeting. The meeting Sunday will be con-] ducted by the Missionary Committee [and the topic for discussion wilt be | "Missionary Work."
