CHAMBER TO HELP. Commercial Body Behind Rebuilding of School and Hospital. That flie Camden and Kershaw County (Chamber of Commerce stand* ready to lend all co-operation possible looking to the immediate rebuilding of the Camden High School and the Cani den Tlospital, both of which was re cently destroyed by fire, is assured in a letter from secretary. treasurer Me Daniel to Mr. T*; J. Kirkland, chair man Hoard of Trustees of School Dis trict No. 1, and Mr. W. M. Shannon, president of the Camden Hospital. In each letter Mr. McDaniel mnde it clear that ail that had to he done to secure co-operation of t.fie_ commercial organi zation was but a corftmand from the authorities from the Board of Trustees of the School District and officers of the Hospital! The * letter# also states that the organization is, not only ready to co-operate In the rebuilding of these two bhildings hut assurances are given that they are ready to co-operate in any move that means a greater Cam den and Kershaw County. Mays Escaped Convict. Greenwood, 1. ? A young w*hite mnn giving the name of O. B. Mays who was arrested here January 25, on the charge of robbing three stores and the poatoffiee at Silverstreet in New berry county, 'is W. H. Griffith, an escaped convict from the West Vir ginia penitentiary, according to a con fession oncers say he made to them. Griffith is now In Jail at Newberry, being held subjects to the orders of the West Virginia authorities. Officers also state that the prisoner is wanted on the charge of murdering a fellow convict the night he escaped from the penitentiary. Mrs. W. T. Miss Sne Brown died at the Tourn ey Hospital Friday night at 0:30 o'clock from the effects of burns whlc^i she accidentally sustained at her home at Oswego on last Sunday afternoon, when the paper which she was read ing caught fire from the open fireplace and her dress catching from the. paper. The flames were put out by her sister, Mrs. Terry and her brother-in-law, Mr. Terry, and she was immediately brought to the hospital here.
