A French racing car enroute from j Charlotte to Columbia attracted a j good deal of attention when it stop ped here yesterday. It is to be used i in the races at the fair grounds in ; Columbia today. Mr. James McCain was exhibiting yesterday half grown cotton bolls ta ken from his farm just above Cam den. Mr. McCain says he has sixty acres which already has a thousand pounds of lint to the acre. He had blooms in his field on the 16th. Complaint is frequently heard of the speed a t which auto drivers pass the corner of Broad and DeKal streets. This is one of the most fre quently used thorofares in the city and hardly a moment there is not several vehicles passing. A ' little precaution on the part of reckless drivers will prevent a serloim acci dent wlijch is likely to occur. Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Carrison, Jr., have returned from their wedding trip North and for the present are at the Carrison _ home on North Broad street. The charming young bride will no doubt be the recipient of a round of social favors. She will be a delightful acquisition to Camden society and be warmly re ceived by Mr. Carrison's many friends. Upon her refusal to do bo, according to the accounts avlalable front men who have returned from the scene of the affray, tho boys shot up the house, the elder woman meeting her death in the fusilade. The , younger woman was badly beaten, As soon as news of the affair got to Bishopvllle Sheriff Muldrow and other officers hurried to the scene lind arriving there they found the elder Grayney woman dead and her daughter in a precarious condition. Empaneling a Jury of inquest, the officers wet to work to ascertain the facts and clear up the mystery. The Inquest was soon over. The coro ner's jury, without delay, returned -a-ifftr/H.'t holding thf> Grantham bovs for tho murder of the elder woman. The sheriff a tonce arrested them and made his way to Bishopvllle and they are now in Jail. The boys decline to say anything as to their connection with the af fair. ? The section where the tragedy oc curred ? -the district between .Kel lytown and Gllbertown, haB long been known as the scene of numer ous crimes. It lies in the extreme northern section of Lee county. The five boys are residents .of Darlington county but tho house in which the tragedy occurred is in Lee county. ('liHiigo on Southern.
