Through Fire and Does (jowl Work. Mr. C. M. Coleman, of Camden, S. i C., has in his possesion a No;- 5 Oliver Typewriter which he is proud ! of. This machine went through the big fire, of the Southern Express., Co.'s building in this city which was ! blown up iu December 190 9. With the exception of the key tops and rubber rolls, the machine is the same as that which wan taken from the debris a few days after the fire. Th.o work of repairing the ma-j chine shows Mr. Coleman to be a genius in his line. Leaving off the name plate one cannot distinguish the old machine from one just from the factory*, and aside from a few minor faults it does as good work as the new machines. Mr. Cole man will have a photo made of the rebuilt machine and sent to the Oli ver Company. To Leave For Greece. Gregory and James Milus, pro-) prietors of the Greek Cafe, on Main j .street will leave next month for the viuuniry to join in the war against the Turks. A large com pany of Greeks will assemble in Co-| lumbia, goinp: from there to Now. York where they will sail for the old country. > j It is said that the pay of a sol ; dier in the Grecian army is three cents per day. Patriotism has _a 'strong pull with the Greeks, as is [shown by the fact that thousands of them are leaving profitable busi nesses In this country to return home and fight the Turks for three| cents per day. The date of the County1 Fair is near at. hand and it seems needless to say that its success depends upon the cooperation of the people of the county. School Day, Friday, Ndv. 8th, 'will be an Interesting and instructive feature of the Fair, but its success will be in proportion to the interest taken and the energy put into it by teachers and pupils of the county. Any teacher can with a few days of energetic work get the children to do .^vonderful things in the way of paper models, drawing, written articles, etc. A school should not hesitate to send in for exhibit its work because it is not considered perfect. The best of the work should be selected and sent in before the opening oX the Ftalr 011 Nov. 7th. We have been fortunate in getting the State Super in ten den of Educaion, Hon. J. E. Swearingen, who will deliver an ad dress on "Education," School Day, Nov. 8th, and it will be a distinct loss for one to miss. this, address. It is desired that every school in the county, chaperoned by its teach er attend especially school day. All Boards of Trustees are expected to give Friday, Nov. 8th, as School Day provided the teachers and all pupils possible come to the fair on that day. Let every , one put " a shoulder to the wheel and make school day h success. I. J. McKenrie, County Superintendent. W A N T K 1) . Hoard in private family, mechan ic, no boozer.
