Pond Water is Bfing Run Into the Filter. The exposures made by Mr. L. T. Mill# in The Chronicle last week regarding the city water ncd fitter, caiyred an investigation which Tre suited in the starring revelation that pond water Is being allowed to run in the filter of tho water plant And is being used by consumers. Of course it was thought that noth ing but spring water was being used. The spring wator is conveyed to the filter by four inch pipes. These , rpipes go below the surface of the pond water. We understand that in one of the pipes on the West side of the pond three openings had been made which allowed a considerable amount of pood water to flow into the filter. How long this has been going on is not known. Br)i?e Tournament. Camden Water, Light & Ice Cj's Plant Uoupjlit By Mr. T. J Kirkland Mr. T. J. Kirkland has purchas ed Uie -plant of the Camden Water, Light device Company. Iu an in terview with Mr. Kirkland yester day nflernoon ho stated to The Chronicle that on Tuesday last, the 18ih inst., the stock of the Water, Light A Ico Company, was sold absolutely to him, whereby he becomes for the time being the own er and holder of the property of the Company and its franchisee. Me further states that he took this step as much for the public benefit as for personal reasons, and mainly to terminate instantly a very painful anrij urgent situation. It seemed necessary to do this to assure the community that the property was in hands entirely friendly to its in terests, and anxious for its preser vationi" and for a thorough investi gation of its condition by all those interested in having good and effi cient service. Immediate steps are being token for the organisation of a Company, which will put the plant in the very best of condition, and give to Camden and vicinity an en tirely satisfactory, supply of water, light and len, at the very earl ft st moment. The truth in regard to everything connected with the plant and the servloe will be laid hare to those who are entitled to know. It will, how'eVar,req?ire a little while for an expert examination Into every feature of the plant*, and to ralae additional capital nefceesary to make it serve in nvcry respeot the pur pose for which it was established. Mr. D. J. Carrison has been made Superintendent of the property ? the potlttos formerly filled by Mr. Boynton. r A BANK'S FIRST DUTY Ih to its depositors.
