This road known in the days of its first projce lion as Three C's, lias by act of the legislature, passed Into the ban'ls of the Southern Hail way. The vim and spirit of Col. Tripp has kept the road from falling to pieces, ami it is said that it will cost t lie Southern 100,000 to make the road bed safe or passahlo in some places. 'The road was projected from Char leston to Cincinnati and thence to Chicago, but the work was abandon ed after tho lino fr.?m Camden to. Marion, N. O., was built. Marion is Just twenty milos from Ashoville, and in ft most picturesque part of the mountains, so whon through trains are run over the South Carolina snd Georgia Extension there will be a new summer resort for Charleston people to explore. The Sonthern will take charge of the old road on the fiftt day of April and will immediately commence to rehabilitate it. The rood bed will be strengthened and the trestles re built in part. Through trains from Marion to. Columbla_will .at ones be pat do, reaching the latter city via Camden, Kingsville and the South Carolina Road. The road Jast acquired by the Southern is dotted with many fine towns, and it may mean that, with a little effort, Charleston can better reach out into the upeoantry by means of the nsf^ traffic arrange* menU. The towns along thlsA lide are Sl?eit>T, H?nri*Ue. MtoresviHe, and Rather ford ton, N C., snd Blacfcebarg. Terkrille, Rook Hill, Lancaster, Hestb Springs, Ksrshhw and Camden, 8. 0.
