Capt. Joseph T. Mickle. (.'apt. Joseph T. Mickle died at his residence in Camden at o a. in., on the 9th. inst., aged oighly-fourj VfitiH, five months and fi f tee ri days. Joseph T. Mickle was born on Sawney's Creek, Kershaw County, on March 25tb, 1814, and was the son of Maj. Joseph Mickle. lie was raised on the farm and attend ed the country schools of his neigh borhood. in early manhood, he went to Columbia und for many years was there engaged in the cot ton business. Later, he moved to Alabainu, and followed tllo" same vocation on a larger scale in Mo bile. <y In 18G4,_ he returned to South Carolina and engaged iu planting, until 1877, when he mov ed to Cajjideu, where he has since resided. Cnpt. Mickle was at one time .lodge of Probate of this county. / Ilewns twice married ? first to Miss Nancy Candy, who died in 1858. Of this union threo chil dren survive ? Mr. Win. E. Mickie, of Mobile, Al# > Mrs. Mary Mc fCWen, of Austin, Totae. and Miss Cornelia Mickle, of Camden. His second wife was Mien Matilda VV. Millinp, daughter of tho late Dr. Johir Milling, of Kershaw (Jounty, whom ho married November 13th., 1804, aud who with wue child, Mrs, Wm. It. Nelson, survive him. In all the relations of life, Capt. Mtckle was noted for his sterling integrity. As a oitizen bo was public spirited and forward in ev ery good cause, .as A neighbor he wflp kind and generous, and as a friend lie. V4? indulgent and true. Hut it was inthe^uipt home circle, where he was best known jLh&l Jk was most' -.esteemed. Of his life tbure we may not speak here. Sure ly a good wan has gone from among us.
