The preacher is to most ""children a very distant being. They see him once a week (often only once a month,) and hear him speak about things that they do not comprehend, aud which they have no idea are meant for them. Their parents know but little more about such things lhan the children and perhaps care less. The preacher is, even to them, a distant being who has but little part in their daily life or home afiairs. Thus his influence is often negatived and sometimes entirely fruiUess. But with tie teacher it is different The children see him every day, are with him in scto>ol five days in the week, he boards or lives in the com munity; and his daily life is known to them all. His sayings are quoted in .every home, his action? are discussed, 'he is looked up to and imitated. How great thereof is his opportunity, and how great also his responsibility!
