BANQUET GIVEN BY BUSINESS M?N FOR FOOTBALL TEAM Oii Friday evening at the Caenden Hotel the business men of Camden entertained tihte Football Team and twelve maids including the cheeiv leaders with a cnoet enjoyable ban quet. ' The young ladies who were fortunate in being ikwited to tihis vt enjoyable affair were: Misses Richey, Eleanor Kii^chner, cheer leaders and Carolyn Cantey, Nancy IWatts, Paulette West, Ann M. Clarkson, Dorothy Creed, Ellen Littla Helen Tindal, Edith Copeland, Mary Louise McLeod and Ben Mildred SowelL Before the banquet the above young girls and their dates attended the movies. The banquet table was very at tractively decorated witih yellow Calendulas, lent by the Camden ?Floral Company. Cunning favors and ba loons completed the decora tions. During the dinner Supt. Richards presented "Letters" to the football players who played the required number of quarters. Elmer Nolan was elected (Captain of the teaim for 1935. I John Flowers, the retiring Cajptaln made a short talk. John M. Ville pigue and W. Retain Zemp also made talks. Around seventy enjoyed this most inspiring aind delightful occasion. After the banquet the guests were entertained at tlh<e American Legion Hall. Miss Margaret Fewell having charge of the amusements in which the old and young joined lit. MEETING OF SPINSTERS CLUB The Spinsters Club had a delight ful meeting Monday evening with Miss Faith de Loach at her home on Lyttleton Street. Miss Virginia Haile was invited to play with club members. Miss Tommy Guthrie was tlhe winner otf the high score prize. Refreshments consisting of hot choc olate cookies and sandwiches were served by the hostess. REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING U. D. C. CHAPTER The regular monthly meeting of the John D. Kennedy Chapter U. D. C. was held at the home of Mrs. R. M. Kennedy, Jr. Son Monday alt^g moon, January 7tk. The Treasurer, Mrs. Mobley, reported that $48.05 had been sent to State Treasurer, and all obliga tions had been met, with a balance of seventy three cents in the bank. &he urged all mefn^Tj to pay their (dues at once. Mrs. Zemp reported (five attended jthe Stato meeting in Columbia. She and Mrs. J. B. Cureton gave a splen did report of the Convention. MISS PAULETTE west ENTERTAINS A lovely party for the younger set was the bridge party otn Saturday af ternoon given by Miss Paulette West at her home on Chestnut street. Four tables were arranged for bridge in the sipacious living room. The high score prize was won by Miss Carolyn Oantey, the low score prize by Miss Ann M. Clarkson and the floating prize by Miss Nancy Watts. The hostess assisted by her motlhter served a salad course after the card games. CLUB MEETING Mrs. Leonaid Schenck was hostess to the Thursday bridge club of two tables the past week. All club mem bers were present. High score prizes were won by Mrs. Clifton Mc Kain and Mrs. Ethel Murchison. Be fore the bridge games the hostess Berved lemon pie, salad, nuts and coffee. MEETING OF FRIDAY CLUB Mrs. Charlie Herbert Zemp was ftibstess to the Friday afternoon bridge club this week. Mrs. Francis H. Craighill was the only substitute. Prizes were won by Mrs. Kirby Tup per and Mrs. Willis Boykin. A de lightful sweet course was served. MEETING OF CLUB Mrs. Ned McDowell was club hos tess on Thursday afternoon when she entertained the memberjs of her "bridge club. Three tables of bridge were in (play and Mrs. F. H. Craig hill substituted for the only absent member. The highest sco/es in bridge were made by Mrs. Frank Zemp and Mrs. Jack Whitaker, Jr. The hostess served delicious apple pie a la mode and coffee. OPENING TEA OF WOMAN'S EXCHANGE TEA ROOM On Saturday afternoon the open ing tea of the Woman's Exchange was given by the Woman's Auxiliary of Grace Episcopal Church. For this occasion the tea room was attractively decorated. Tl>e beauti* fully . appointed tea tables were cen tered with silver bowls of taliaman roses, pink snaipidragons and daisies, burning tapers in silver holders add ed much to this charming setting.
