Historic Property | Changes Hands The large three story structure just North of the Baptist Church on Broad street was sold this week by the Sinking Fund Commission of Ker shaw County to Alvio. R. Moseley, formerly of Camden, n>w of Walter boro. This spacious home is one of Camden's historic spots. The beloved Dr. Baruch owned it and his son, Ber nard M. Baruch spent hU boyhood days there. For many years it was owned and occupied by the late Dr. 1. T. Moore, who was one of Cam den's old time and much loved phy sicians. Later it went into the hands j of the late Mrs. K G. Whistler, who j for a number of years opiated it as | an exclusive tourist home. About ten v<*rs ago it was purchased by Mr. nnu Mrs. L*Svre who disposed of it to Kershaw County about two years ago. Mr. Moseley is purchashing the property as a home for bis mother, Mrs. J. L. Moseley. Game Association At Lancaster At an open meeting held in the American Legion hall on Tuesday night at 7:30 o'clock a local chapter of the State Game and Fish associa tion was formed with Wyatt B. Elliott as president; Rev. R. W. Jopling as vice president and C. Ross JRutledge as secretary and treasurer. Present at this meeting were Zan Heyward of Charleston, president of the state association and "West tary. Kirk Trotter of Camden who is an official of the Fifth District as sociation was also present and made a few remarks. Mr. Heyward and Mr. Jacocks explained the aims and purposes of the association and told of the advantages to be obtained by the preservation and propagation of fish and game ? Former Camden Man Dies In Washington y Mrs. Edna Team Clyburn, of thi? city, was called to Washington, D. 0., Monday where she attended the fun eral of her brother, Albert >S. Team, which occurred at Ea.it Falls Church, Va., on Saturday, December 14, after a lingering: illness. His burial 'was in Arlington National cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Team was ' dis charged from the naval service in 1919 on account ?f illness. He was formerly connected with the Vanderbilt Hotel at Asheville; la ter he was a patient at Oteen hospi tal and after being discharged went to Washington as manager of the Du Pont Circle Hotel. 'Mr. Team was born in Camden onlr ty-one years ago, the son of Robert R. Team and the late Edna Zemp Team. He is survived by his father and two brothers, Benjamin Team, of Colum bia; Donald Team, of the Un\ted. States Air Corps, stationed at Pert Bragg; also one sister, Mrs. Edna Clyburn, of Camden. By BUD FISHER Hf.'i 7. iro Women Met Friday County Farm Council The Kefshaw County Council of Farm Women held its semi-annual meeting Friday night, Deceu^t>er 7 111 at the High school auditorium. Mrs. Kate B. Gettys, president of the Council, called the meeting to order with the singing of "America the Beautiful" by the assembly. The de votional was conducted by Rev. A. D. McArn, Pastor of the Presbyterian church. Mayor J. H. Osborne, in a few gracious words, welcomed the Farm Women and their husbands in behalf of the City of Camden. Res ponse to this was made by Mrs. Shel by Truesdale., vice president of the Council of Farm Women, and a mem ber of the DeKalb Home Demonstra tion club. Greetings were extended from the American Legion Auxiliary by Mm. A. M. McLeod; from the United Daughters of the Confederacy oy Mrs. S. C. Zemp; from the Camden Garden club by Miss Fannie Fletcher; from the Camden Shrine club by Mr. W. F. Nettles; from the County Health Unit by Dr. A. W. Humphries. Mrs. Kathleen B. Watts, Superintend ent of Education, spoke of the work of the Farm women in cooperation with the education department of Kershaw County. Mrs. Theo D. Plow den, District Home Demonstration Agent at this time rendered two en joyable solos, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. S. C. Zemp. The min utes of the previous meeting were read and the roll called by the Sec retary of the Council, Mrs. J. A. Bell i of Lugoff. The clubs responded to the roll by standing. The speaker of the evening, Hon. D. W. Watkins, Director of Extension Work of Clemson College, was intro duced by Henry D. Green, County Farm Agent. Mr. Watkins reviewed the work of the Extension Depart ment in the state and told of his plans for the continuation of this work. Miss Juanita Neely, State Poultry Agent, brought greetings from th? I State Department. Mrs. Theo 1>. i Plowden commended the work of the women of this county and told of the honors won by the Council members and 4-H Club girls. Miss Margaret B. Fewell, Homo Demonstration Agent, awarded diplo mas to the clubs completing four years of project work, as follows: DeKalb, Sand Hill and Gates For.l. A gold seal representing an addition al four years of project work was awarded the LugofT club. Mrs. Ella Pearce, a member of the Charlotte Thompson Home Demonstration club, received an individual diploma for completing four years of prescribed work in her club. Mrs. Pearce is the first club woman in Kershaw County to have the distinction of receiving such an honor.
