On February 8th the President, by exe cutive order, authorized the Admin istrator for Industrial Recovery to prescribe rules requiring persons sub ject to approved Codes of Fair Com petition to post the provisions of such Codes. Pursuant to this order, the Administrator issued regulations on February 28th, providing that within 45 days from that date, or 45 days from the date of approval of a Code, whichever is the later, each employer must make application for official copies of the labor provisions of each Code to which he is subject. This means that for those Codee approved prior to February 28, the deadline for making an application is April 14. This distribution is being handled by the various National Code Authorities, but due to the delay in organizing Local Code Authorities in a number of trades and industries, the National Code Authorities have been unable to reach all the employ ers with application forms. ^This is especially true in the Restaurant Trade, the Cleaning and Dyeing In dustry, the Trucking Industry, and in many parts of the country in the Re tail Trade and in the Retail Coal Trade. If any employer subject to a Code has not received these applica tion forms, we shall arrange from this office to supply them with same through the Compliance Boards in South Carolina. "Nervine Liquid and Effervescent Tablets Rent Average Land In Reducing Cotton Clemson College, April 7. ? The purpose of the 40 per cent reduction in cotton acreage is a similar recfuc tion in the production of cotton in 1934, says R. W. Hamilton, assistant to Director W. W. Long, reminding farmers that land of good average fertility and not eroded, waste, or gul lied land, is to be taken out of cotton cultivation this year under the terms of the contracts signed by southern growers. "Growers are not entitled, under the contract, to select old, wornout land and designate it as the rented area specified in the contract," says Cully A. Cobb, chief of the cotton sec tion of the Agricultural Adjustment Administration. "There should be no skipping about in the field, renting one poor spot here and another 'galled' spot there. The rented acres must be tillable land fairly representative of the average cotton, land on the farm. In other words, the adjustment ad ministration agrees to pay growers benefit rentals for land that would average what the other cotton acres will produce." These acres of average land may be put into food and feeds crops for home use. Food and feed crops are one of the great needs of southern agriculture at this time, and for this reason a special concession was ob tained in preparing the cotton con tract so that-* this need might in part be filled. County and community committee men will give special attention to the land rented and the use to which this land is put, when they inspect the farm later for compliance with the terms of the contract.
