MISS CURETN HONORED
WITH LOVELY PARTIES
One of the lovlie^t and most enjoy
able parties given for Miss Cureton,
bride-elect was the bridge party of
six tables and miscellaneous shower
or. Saturday afternoon given by Miss
Tommy Guthrie, who will bo a brides
maid in the Cureton-Sheorn wedding
Thursday evening. For this occasion
the Guthrie Homo was thrown en
suite and most attractivly decorated
in a profusion of mixed garden flow
ers. High score was won by Miss
Helen Savape and low score by Miss
Willie Haile.
After refreshments were served
which consisted of ice cream and cake
in the wedding colors, a special de
livery boy came with a huge box for
Miss Cureton filled with many useful
and attractive gifts brought by the
guests

the card games for refreshments:

om, Miss Drue Baxley and Mrs. S. C.

be given honoring Miss Cureton, Mr.

evening Miss Sara DePass an attend
ant in the wedding will entertain the
bridal party at her homo on Fair
street.
Miss Gertrudo Zemp, a brides- maid
will give a luncheon foi the bridal;
party on Thursday, the day of the

Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Cureton, parents
of the bride will entertain with a re

a very enjoyable meeting of the

this week. Playing with club mem

As this is the end of the 8 series,
the high score was awarded Mrs.
Hughey Tindal and the 2nd highest
score prize to Mrs. Alfred McLeod.
Tho hostess served a most delightful

coffee.
CLUB MEETING
The Neighborhood bridge culb met
Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. P.
I\. Stevenson on Pair street. Extra
guests for the afternoon were: Mrs.

Niles, Mrs. Lee Littlo and Mrs. Joe
McKain. Top score prize for the af
ternoon was won by Miss Drue Bax
ley, the consolation prize wan cut by
Mrs. John T. Mackey, Jr., Mrs. Leo
Little received the low score prize.
Refreshments consisting of sandwich

COWARD? DuBOSK
Of much interest to their many
friends is the announcement of the
marriage of Miss French Virginia
Coward and Leon Ernest DuBose,
which took place Saturday, June 10,
in Camden, the Rev. C. F. Wimberly,
pastor of the Methodist church, per
forming the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of the
late James Marion Coward and Mrs.
Coward, and has a host of friends
whom she has won by her charm an<T
personality. She attended Bethel cot
lege, Hopkinsville, Ky., and for past
several years has been one of Sum
ter's leading business women.
The bridegroom is the son of E. M.
DuBose of Timmonsville, and is a
progressive merchant of that city.
Immediately following tho cere
mony the couple left for a ljjotor trip
through the mountains of North Car
olina, after which they will make

homa City, pleaded guilty to a
charge of reckless drinving, described
as "dangerous slow," and paid a $10
