When farmers come to town, buy veg etables and watermelons, we know that there is neglect of their own gardens. Many fine cows have been Added to the farms of our county. If fires are kept out of ^&|^em, within a few years there will , 'he~>-jw)rth while supply of timber. -We recently heard, of a plan for pre serving a forest. The owner volun tarily obligated himself to pay each tenant the sum of five dollars a year if they kept forest fires away. On the Other hand if they allowcJd a for r- f f'm tf? Another forward step along this line is the fact that within a short while now a tower one hundred soon be erected within a short: distance of Camden, and a , watchman will be placed in it 'who will be able to see for miles ar6und ord if a forest fire should, occur prompt alarm can be given. Some thought that the Governor was groom ing himsef for the senatorial toga, but all speculation has been pi|t to and ehd by his frank and positive statement^ that We will not be a can , dldate for any office this summer. He has been urged by many friend* to make the race for the tinted States Senate, but this he will not do in the H coming campaign.
