I Out of 474 crossing accidents, 284 were in% connection with automobiles. Sixtey-seven occupants of automo biles were killed and 194 injured out of a total of 8G persons killed and 274 injured in such accidents. There Were G4 accidents involv ing other vehicles and street cars in which four persons were killed and 68 injured, and 26 accidents to pe destrians, of whom 15 were killed and 12 injured., ' These figures are contained in a statement issued by the Safety De partment of the Southern, calling at tention to the alarming ' increase of crossing accidents since the automo bile has come into general use, indi cating that drivers of motor cars do not take ?the same ' precautions at crossings that are taken by drivers of other vehicles and by pedestrians.
