IF , T I ??? CHERAW CHRONICLE ' JOE LINDSAY, Editor Foreign Advertising Representative THE AMERICAN PRESS ASSOCiAriON SHALL WE HATE A COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE ? At the suggestion of some of our J ladies we are starting now to try to j promote a Community Christ 'Js Iree for Cheraw. First, let us outline a plan that has been suggested.""" ~ Thai we erect a big Xmas tree on ^ <Ke Green and have it wired and lighted by electricity. That we .irraige to have the singers of our town to sing Xmas songs. That we get some one to teach the; children of our school the Xmas. songs j and have them sing. That we provide a bag of candy and nuts for each child jn town under 12 years of age. That we have a committee to see to see to it that every ;white family attends. At Christmas time we are sure everyone has a better feeling toward his neighbor than at any other time so we, who have the interest of Cheraw at heart, should fos:er that friend ly feeling by coming together as one big family and enjoying the holiday season a3 Christ, whose birthday we celebrate, would have us. "Peace on earth, good will to men" could not be Krtftrt* rwnmnfod than KTT Q CQ thnri' T1 {T UCUC1 piUUiVltU IUUU u j guvMv?***o a of this sort where everyone will try * to make other people happy. The main idea, of course, will be to make the children of our town enJoy the evening and possibly give some of them the only taste of Christmas they will have. It won't cost anything much in mon- i ey to carry out the plan set forth 1 above but it will cost something in ef- 1 fort on the part of everybody to make l it a success. Let's forget self for a little while and join hands to have a real Community Christmas Tree. If you are willing to do your "bit" in helping to make this event a sue- 1 cess, let us hear from you. Phone 1 your name to the Chronicle office or c tell the editor. c O < FOR ALE?600 bushels Deltatype Cot- i ton Seed at S2.50 ner bushel. 4t G. E. King, McBee, S. C. ? 0 WANTED?Field Peas.
