I We want to write this one more j piece before Christmas. Somehow we1 feel like trying to say something, whether it is worth much or not we do not know and if you do not think much of it. why just pass it over and take the good intention for the deed. We said last week that we were going to hang up t?ur stocking again this year and see if old man Santa would pass us up again. Well, it does notj matter much if he does, but we want to make a suggestion to all the boys and gilrs and the old boys and the old girls as well. We were reading the other day a little poem by Joaquin Miller, and wo want to pass it on to yon at this time of the year and we want you to think about it and act on it. There are many of the young boys and young girls who still have the great blessing of having their mother with them. Some have not that great blessing and privilege and who feel now that they would give almost any. thing if they just could bring mother back for one more Christmas at the old home. Of course, for those who have no mother we cannot speak as we would but we do want to say a word to those, who have that great privilege ?REMEMBER MOTHER AT THIS TIME. If you are away from home she is thinking about you just as , much and just as often as if you were still at the home, and the word we want to say is, DON'T FORGET MOTHER AT THIS CHRISTMAS TIME. Send her some token and em- | blem of love and affection and write ' her a sweet little note and tell hei ' how much you love her and how you appreciate her. But let us gi/e >v\ ti e poem and then we can say o ''ji.th.ng more about it if we wput to. The Bravest Battle. fought! Shall I tell you where and when? On the mans of the world you will find it not? 'Tvvas fought by the mothers of mien. Nay, not with cannon or battle shot, With sword or noble pen; Nay, not eloquent words or thought From mouths of wonderful men! Hut deep in the walled-up woman's heart? Of a woman that# would not yield, But bravely, silently bore her part? Lo! there is that battle field. No marshalling troops, no bivouac song. No banner to gleam and wave; Hut oh! these battles they last so long? From babyhood to the grave. Yet. faithful still as a bridge of stars. She fights in her walled-up town? Fights on and on in the endless wars. Then, silent, unseen, goes down. Oh, ye with banners and battle shot, And soldiers to shout and praise! I tell you the kinglmst victories fought Were fought in those silent ways. 0, spotless woman in the world of shame. With splendid and silent scorn. Go back to God as white as you came? The kinglie^t warrior born! Now, don't you agree with tis that this is true and a beautiful sentiment and that it is your duty, whether that "kingliest warrior born" is fast passing to that other and better shore, or whether she is still in the bloom ot young womanhood, deserves your remembrance at this time of remembering? We know you do. and let us tell you something, that mother that bore you is the best friend you will ever have in this world, and whether you be prosperous or great, or whether you be poor and unknov. n~ whether you are riding in the chariot amid the plaudits of the multitude. 01 whether you are driving the wheelbarrow? she loves you just the same, and you should not forget her. She will rejoice with >our success and she wills sorrow with you when misfortune overtakes you. Don't forget her at this time, is our simple admoni tion and plea. And she has not asked us to make this plea. Go and spend the joyous time with her if you are away. She will give you a welcome. If you can't go. send her some little token of your love and retueml.ranee. It is not the value in money of the thing you send, but the spirit and the love and the remembrance that go with it that will make it precious to her heart. There is a whole lot more that we j could say. but we are going to stop, but may come again after we see what our stocking contains utter the' glad Christmas time. Here's hoping' that all our readers and every one else may have a pleasant and happy time. There are homes with vacant chairs, but remember that there is a! good u-ascn for this in the mind Him who caiur to save and \vl grieves not His own, without sot g?>od reason. Wo cannot undcrstai now, but some day we shall see la to face. Fair Part cf Income Saved. The annual income of all the peop in the United States approximate $35,000,000,000. They save about $" 0O0.O0n.O00 of this. Quick rCold Relief is usually found through the prompt administration of a mildly laxative, dispersive tonic?one that will scatter the inflammation, remove the waste, and help Nature to build up resistance. Peruna is That Tonic. Its action is prompt, usually very effective, and its use is without harmful effects. Every household should keep it at hand for this purpose, and every catarrhal sufferer should regularly use this reliable remedy. The tablet form will be found very convenient. _ A tablet or two at the very beginning of c cold will frequently prevent its development, and these tablets may be taken regularly with beneficial results. /] 1 I \ \\ vhich for nearly Jl 1 ] I \V /f J Vi half ft century haa // ( | fi been the reliance # of the American / J Home. _ ?
