The South Carolina Conference of the Methodist Episcopal church held Its session in Sumter Nov. 23-27. It was presided over by Bishop Luther B. Wilson, D. D., who it is said proved hfmaolf a nation* fhnrnncrh atirl impartial presiding officer. We learn that the article by Rev. C .C. Scott, and which appeared recently in The Chronicle and also in the Columbia State, was generally discussed and commented on quite favorably, and that the Bishop spoke of it in one of the Cabinet meetings in quite a complimentary manner. Pastor Scott is returned here for another year and judging by the reports of the increased attendance and the increase in the church collections as compared with this time last year, and the enthusiastic reception tendered him last week, his congregation must be highly gratified over his return. On Wednesday evening, Dec. 13th, Miss Annie Watson and Mr. Clarence Terrell were united in matrimony in Florence, S. C. Rev. Marvin Auld, pastor of the Cheraw Methodist church performed the ceremony. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. J. A. Watson, of our city, and the groom is one of Cheraw's rising young business men. The Chronicle extends to the popular young couple best wishes. She was the wife of the late John, Smith, of Marlboro county, and of her immediate family there are two! daughters, Miss Gertrude Smith, ofj Cheraw, and Miss Ravina Smith, of ( Patrick, to mourn her loss.
