/ j The Cotillion Club staged a costume ball for their annual autumn dance which took place Saturday night at the Mary Mus- grove Inn. Since this is Laurens County Week for the Tricentennial, guests were dressed in a variety of historical costumes.. Centennial Chairman William Jacobs and his wife Sue were beautifully attired in authenic costumes, dated in the 1800’s ■ "Jake’s’ blue frock coat was trimmed with velvet and ruffles, coordinated with tan stripe pants. The outfit was complete with a ruffled dickie, strlnjtie, and topped with a brown hat His lady was elegant in a gold satin dress with a prim high neck and leg of mutton sleeves. Her dress was trimmed with sage green, and finishing the costume was a matching bonnet with oink olumes. There were many others who were outstanding, including English gentlemen Claude Crocker, Pringle Copeland, George Cornelson, Jim Von Hollen and their wives. The gracious buffet table, draped in red, white and blue bunting, captured the historical significance of the occasion. The base of the centerpiece was a wooden silhouette of S.C. set off by a ‘300* in gold glitter. Adding a special touch to this were palm branches, yellow Jasmine and miniature | state flags. Another area contributingef-1 fectlvely to the party decor was the bandstand. Behind the band was a palmetto tree and a large state seal made by the children [ at Whitten Villaae. The Cotillion Club enjoyed a I gay 300th birthday celebration but in spite of the old fashioned noop sldrts and high laced j shoes, the music and dancing were very much ip to date, f G«t-Toqeth«r dob Meets W< The Get-Together Club will meet on Wednesday, November 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the >t.
