While away she enjoyed a trip to Augu sta, Ga. with Mr. Ben Benchoff and son. Mrs. Frances Williams of Spartanburg spent last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cordell Sanders. Mrs. Jack Harrison also of Spartanburg was here for the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. San ders. Their mother, Mrs. San ders has been a patient in Bailey Memorial Hospital. Misses Liz Wright, Sandi Ballew and Joanne Bundrick, Jerome Bundrick, Don Salters and Gerald Davenport spentSat- Georgia. Rev. and Mrs. Mickey Thomas and Emily of Denmark spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Emmie Thomas, coming for the Lydia Church of God Home coming. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harvey and family spent Saturday in Columbia with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Outz. Miss Gloria Jackson of Greenwood spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Ezzie Miller and Mr. Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Clardy and family of Greenville were week-end guests of her mother, Mrs. Lewis Abercrombie. Pvt. Terry Dunaway of Camp Lejeune, N. C. spent the week end with Mrs. Dunaway, the former Sheila Armstrong. She returned with him to make her home there. Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Campbell spent the week-end with their son and daughter-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Camp bell and son in Atlanta, Ga., their son Michael is suffering a broken arm. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Wil liams spent the week-end in Aiken with his daughters, Mrs. G. C. Parrish Jr. and Mr. Par rish. On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Parrish and Mrs. /Batty Moyer visited Mr. aad -MMi- Edward Glover in Atlanta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Cason of Cleveland, Tenn. were here Sunday for the Lydia Church of God Homecoming. His father. Rev. Fred E. Cason is pastor of the church. Mrs. John T. Oakley of Green ville was aguestofMrs.Sidney Oakley a few days last week. Mrs. Sidney Oakley and Mrs. C. R. Kuykendall were recent guests of the latters son, Ray mond and Mrs. Kuykendall and also her sister Miss Lila E skew in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie James and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby James and family, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas James and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Harris with Miss Debra Pitts of Ware Shoals, Miss Susan Hawthorne of Due West and Mrs. Lena Connley of Anderson attended the James reunion at Spring- field Park in Mauldin on Sunday the 20th. Mrs. Connley also spent the week-end with the Charlie James’. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. O’Shields were Saturday visitors of his step-mother, Mrs. RosaO’- Shield’s and his sister, Mrs. Grace Wix in Whitmire. Mr. and Mrs. William Stone and family of Lyman and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Trammell and family of Anderson were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Grady and Rick attended the Western Carollna-Applachian football game at W. C. U. in Cullow- hee, N. C. on Saturday, their son Steve plays on the W. C. U. team. SgL and Mrs. Billy Dickerson and daughter Leanne of Key West, Florida have returned to their home after spending sev eral days with his mother, Mrs. Mildred Dickerson and other relatives. MOTTE SURPRISED AT NURSING CENTER On Sunday afternoon of last week Mrs. Charles Copeland, Mrs. Mary Lawson, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Threatt and daught er Pam, Mrs. C. B. Grogan and Mr. and Mrs. Casey Abercrom bie visited Mrs. Joshe (Alice) Motte at the Laurens Nursing Center to help celebrate her birthday. They carried a birthday cake and cokes which all enjoyed and they presented Mrs. Motte gifts. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT GARDNER Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gard ner announce the birth of a daughter, Mimi Elizabeth on September 23 at Bailey Me morial Hospital. Mrs. Gardner is the former Martha Ann (Pi) White. HURLEY Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Hurley announce the birth of a son, James Edward on September 2 at Bailey Memorial Hospital. The mother is the former Shelia Vanderford. on September 5 at 7 p.m. at the Holly Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Lowe, in the presence of only relatives and a few close friends. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Odell Lambert of Clinton. The groom is the son of Mrs. Ruby W. Rook of Enoree and J. D. Threatt of Clinton. The young couple are at home at Copeland’s Trailer Court on Jacob’s Highway. BAPTIST TO ORDAIN DEACONS Ordination services will be held Sunday evening at the Lydia Baptist Church for the three newly elected Deacons, Mr. Tommy Moore, Mr. BillCauble and Mr. James McElhannon. Mr. R. E. Whitmire also elect ed has already been ordained. BAPTIST WOMEN TO MEET The General meeting of the Lydia Baptist Women will meet Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the church for their first meet ing of the new church year. Mrs. Annie Lawson is a med ical patient in Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mr. Rufus Handback was a patient in Bailey Memorial Hospital a few days last week.
