Pierce 301 Magnolia St, Joanna WHAT TO EXPECT Many people hesitate to visit a church un less they know what it will be like when they go. Perhaps we can help you know what to expect when you visit the Church of Christ in Clinton. We Try To Be Christians Only: The confus- ion of the religious world today is far different from the unity enjoyed by the early Christians. (1 Cor 1:10) Loyalty to traditionalism and dis tinctive names divide men religiously. Surely, such loyalties are foreign to the Scritpures. We seek to have no denominational organzation or name, doctrine, or creed. Our authority is the di vine inspired Scritpures. Thus, when we follow the teaching of Christ and his Apostles, we are simply Christians—just as were the disciples of the first century. (Acts 11:26) It is the only name by which we want to be known. (1 Pet. 4:16) You Will Find A Friendly Spirit: We believe that friendliness is a natural attitude among peo ple who truly love God. We believe that our visi tors, who always receive a warm welcome, will appreciate our courtesy and cordiality. We truly hope that you will accept our invitation to visit us soon. It will be our pleasure to have you. The Worship Is Sincere And Devout: Visi tors are favorably impressed by a quiet service designed to draw worshippers closer to God and provide enduring strength. Since our purpose is to be governed in all things by the Bible alone, our worship consists only of those items which were part of the wor ship of the Church of the New Testament. We have congregational singing (Col. 3:16) and pray, (Acts 2:42) partake of the Lord’s Supper, (1 Cor. 11:23-29) preach God’s Word for our instruction, (Acts 20:7) and give of our means, (1 Cor. 16:2). We also realize such worship must be in the prop er spirit. (Jon. 4:23-24) You Will Never Be Embarrassed: You visit us as a welcomed and respected guest. At the close of the sermon, those wishing to become Christians are invited to step to the front to let their wishes be known. Never is anyone singled out for public attention. People are urged, from the pulpit, to accept the gospel and to yield to its call with deep spiritual conviction. We do not seek yours but you. (2 Cor- 12:14) WE GLADLY WELCOME YOU to our ser vices this next Sunday, or to any of the services of the church. Hoping that if you are seeking Christ you will find Him here; if sorrowing, you will find comfort for a troubled spirit; if lonely, companionship and Christian love. "This congre gation strives sincerely to be a true Church of Christ, sound in teaching, upright in character, reverent in worship, and sacrificial in spirit. To ward the achievement of these worthy ends we constantly implore our Father’s blessings, and seek your sincere co-operation. CHURCH of < MB IfiNTtfc.Bfead StaMt NfcrgN 8, PARKER, CH»U* * C. Furman Entrekin Jackson Street Shady Grove Presbyterian Church Bonds Cross Roads CHRISTIANITY:LATEST AND BEST PLAN BY DR. HERBERT SPAUGH How do we know that Christ ianity is the correct religion as opposed to other ancient reli gions of the world queries a correspondent? The Bible gives us a long- range view of God’s dealing with man. First, there’s God’s offer to Adam and Eve which was re jected in disobedience. The race graduaHy deteriorates until the time of the flood. With Noah and his family God made a new start. Again, life deteriorates the same way. Next the Lord chose Abraham and made a new be ginning with him. History again repeats itself and his grand sons find themselves in Egypt where their decendents come into bondage. Generations passed. God tried it again under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. The same pat tern of evil overcoming the good How patient the good Lord is! With David he tries it again. And the same results ensue. Jesus described these pro gressive experiences in the •Parable of the Vineyard,' Lute 20:9-18. The owner of a vine yard put it in charge of tenants to care for and took a journey to a far country. At harvest time, he sent for some of the fruits. The messenger was re jected with violence. He repeat ed the process several times. Finally, he said, “What shall 1 do? I will send my beloved son. It may be they will reverence him.' When the tenants saw him, the reasoned among themselves, saying, “This is the heir; come let us kill him, that the in heritance may be ours*. So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. The Christian gospel, as es tablished by Jesus with His death on the cross for our sins and his resurrection for our salvation is God’s latest and most recent attempt to reach stubborn man. It has been the most effective. Let’s never for get that the modern marvels of science stem back to God and the Church. Lets give credit where credit is due. We live in a modern and humanistic society where man thinks he is self-sufficient. There is nothing further from the truth. The glorification of man ends up in a super state as practiced by communism. In the communistic scheme of things the state is supreme. There is no doubt about that. In American God Is styipo&ed to be supreme. The national motto reads, "In God We Trust'. Many are forgetting the origin of their blessings. Christian religion is God’s latest and best plan to save sinful man and lead him into a new life.
