■ <3 Lydia Mill News MRS. CLYDE TRAMMELL, Miss Lizanne Wright with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ballew and family left Friday for a vacation trip to the WestCoast. They will visit in California and Canada, sightseeing enroute. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Kuy kendall and Miss Wright were in Columbia recently, to visit their son and uncle, Mr. Ray mond Kuykendall and Mrs. Kuy- endall and their daughter and mother, Mrs. Tom Ancrumand Mr. Ancrum going for a birthday supper for the former Mr. Kuy kendall. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Gil- strap of Greenville were Fri day overnight guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gilstrap. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Moore and family and Miss Cookie Johnson are vacationing a few days this week at Ocean Drive Beach. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Williams Joined others of the Ball family at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Ball in Greenville on Sunday for a get-together while their sister, Mrs. R. P. Coxe and son Mr. P. D. Coxe, Mrs. Coxe and son of Maryland were visiting in S. C. Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Bailey spent the week-end in Nash ville, Tenn. They attended the Grand Old Opry while there. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Camp bell and Mr. and Mr. Grady Worthy visited Mrs. Campbells father, Mr. George Pressley in Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood, Sunday. Miss Becky Cooper spent a recent two weeks in Great Falls with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Cooper and Mrs. George Wade. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Lanford and son Johnny spent the week end in Hendersonville, N. C. Mrs. Mary Fallaw with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. David Storay and family of Greenville are vaca tioning this week at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Johnson and daughter. Cookie and Deb bie Moore spent the week-end at Fontana Village, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Coker of Gas tonia, N. C. spent the week end with his daughter, Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sprouse Sr. and family were in Spart anburg over the weekend be cause of the death of her mother, Mrs. Evelyn Scruggs on Friday morning. Mrs. Jimmy South and Mrs. Jimmy Sanders visited the family on Saturday evening. Mrs. H. 0. Smith and Jo seph Smith spent Saturday in Calhoun Falls with Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Dalton. Mr. Art Sanders spent the week-end with his grandmother in Palatka, Fla. He also visit ed at St. Augustine and Day tona Beach while there. Mr. and Mrs. Odie Nelson, Mrs. Emmie Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Columbus Hughes and family and Misses Rhonda and Patti Hughes spent a recent Sunday in Denmark with Rev. and Mrs. Clyde (Mickey) Thomas. Mrs. Thomas’ son. They attended church services at the Denmark Church of God where Rev. Thomas is pastor. Mrs. D. P. Thomas and her son ESGene Thomas, USAF and Mrs. Thomas and children of Greenville were Sunday supper guests of the formers sister, Mrs. Mark Conner and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy South. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mathis and Miss Kathy Webb spent Saturday with Mrs. Mathis’ son J. D. Revis and Mrs. Revis in Charleston. On Tuesday of last week, Mrs. Mathis and daughter Mrs. Benny Tucker visited Mrs. Mathis’ sister-in-law, Mrs. Hattie Vance in the Wallace Thompson Hospital in Union. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Am brose Carter of Chester visited the Mathis family and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby W'ebb. Mr. and Mrs. Royce Smith of near Laurens were Sunday visitors of Mrs. Nell Gardner and Misses Nan Smith and Feroline Seav. HOBO PARTY GIVEN FOR DAUGHTER In celebration of her 12th birthday on August 1, Nancy Bowling was honored by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Bowling with a Hobo Party at their home. There was thirty present, each one came dressed as hobos’ and much fun was had as Miss Tami Parrish directed the games. Miss Ann Darby also assist ed in the entertaining with the host and hostess. Miss Bowling received many nice gifts which were presented to her after the Hobo party re freshments were served. MR. McCRAVY HONORED The McCravy family honored Mr. Noland McCravy with a birthday dinner Sunday at his home on Lake Greenwood. Enjoying the occassion with Mr. and Mrs. McCravy were Mr. and Mrs. Larry IMcCravy and Lisa, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Templeton and children, Mrs. Gladys Polsum and Jamie, Mr. and Mrs. William Bowling and family of Clinton, Mrs. Alice Poole, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Couch, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Mc Cravy and Keith of Greenville. BIRTHDAY SUPPER ENJOYED Mrs. Guy C. Parish Sr. hon ored her husband with a birth day supper on Saturday evening at their home with Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Parrish, Jr. , Mrs. Carol Cooper and Thomas Beazley of Aiken, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wells, Jr. and children Buddy and Shelly of Laurens, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Parrish and Tami and Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Williams enjoying the happy affair with Mr. Parrish. After the bountiful supper he was presented gifts for the occassion. WITH THE SICK Mrs. Melvin Satterfield is a patient in Bailey Hospital. Mrs. Bobby Webb is ill at her home. Miss Nettie Prince was to undergo surgery Monday at the Bailey Memorial Hospital. BROTHERHOOD MEETS TUESDAY The Brotherhood of the Lydia Baptist Church will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Church to go to the Laurens County Home for a worship service. RAST Rast Named As President Southern Bell Southern Bell Telephone Company will have a new Pres ident September 1. He is L. E. Rast of Atlanta, who now is Executive Vice President. Mr. Rast was elected Presi dent Monday (July 27) by the Company’s Board of Directors in Atlanta. He will succeed Frank M. Malone, who is retiring Sept ember 1. Malone has been President since August 1, 1965. He will continue to serve on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. Rast is a native of Athens, Georgia, and a graduate of the University of Georgia. Among other positions with Southern Bell, he has been Vice-Presi dent and Comptroller in At lanta, Vice President and Gen eral Manager for Florida, and Operations Vice President for a five-state area.
