CLEMSON - Take a hard look at advertisementsofferingmeat at bargain prices far below those at retail stores, cautions Veronica Carmack Clemson extension home management specialist. Before buying from a bulk meat dealer, first check on his reputation. Ask him for the names of other customers he has served and check with them for their experience with him. Also find out about the grad ing. Ask to see the stamps on the meat. Miss Carmack says that bulk meat is customarily sold at its “hanging” or uncut weight and that there is considerable weight loss after the meat is cut and trimmed. The usable meat can amount to less than half of the bulk weight, depending on what parts of the carcass you are buying and upon the indi vidual animal. If the seller attempts to “switch” you from advertised meat to more expensive meat, don’t buy until you check the price per pound (after the meat would be cut and trimmed) with comparable meat you could buy elsewhere. If you decide to buy meat on credit, Miss Carmack advises finding out to whom your prom issory note must be paid, whe ther interest and carrying charges will be added to your payments and how much they will be. i57?0ADWPX cjkeoinje EASY -GOING —Here's ;i fash ion most likolv to suiveod on campus or off In soft cotton velour, the simple A line shane is accented with a navv patent lace belt It's bv Gav Gibson TO CRACK PECANS and keep the nutmeat whole or in halves, home economists at the U.S. Department of Agriculture of fer this suggestion.
