The host church was in charge of the opening program on Thursday night Miss Hasel Clark of Bush River Church was crowned ‘Miss Enoree". On Friday many reports. class study, sermons and ed ucational appeals were heard and engaged in by the many delegates. BOWLING NEWS The “Coiettes" women Bow ling team completed their first bowling league Wednesday evennlng. Trophies were awarded to the following mem bers: Mrs. H. S. Suber, high average; Miss Christine Byrd, high game; Mrs. MargaretWil- liam, high series; Miss Mary Copeland, most Improved. League awards were given to Mrs. Connie Young and Mamie Jackson. Other members are Mrs. Gladys Davenport and Christine Sanders. Miss Ruby Lee Copeland presented the tropies. The league will resume in the fall. Miss Marcella D. Bailey and Delmar A. Bailey of Bedford, Mass, is spending the summer with their grandmother Mrs. Bertha Bailey and other family members. Michael Henry of Washington, D. C. Is also here with the Bailey family and his aunt, Mrs. Leola Burton in the Gideon Hill section. Mrs. Lee Ruth Gilliam en planed from Greenville-Spart- anburg Airport on last week for Washington, D. Miss Roslyn Goode and Mr. Nathaniel Smith of Atlanta, Ga. were in the city on Sunday to attend the Suber-Adams family reunion. We will be always grateful that you made us so happy. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Sanders R. A. Rhame Named Agent For NY Life The New York Life Insurance Company has appointed Richard A. Rhame as agent for the Clinton-Laurens area. Although a Clinton native and graduate of Presbyterian Col lege, he comes to Clinton from Greenville, S. C., where he was a counselor with the South Carolina Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. He served two years in the U. S. Marine Corps, and holds a Masters degree in counsel ing from the University of Florida. His wife, the former Rita Scott Chandler of Columbia, is a graduate of Converse College, and they have one daughter, Rita, age two. * * * County Bond Sales Announced D. F. Patterson County Sav ings Bonds Chairman today re ports that Laurens County’s June sale of Series E and H Savings Bonds and Savings Notes (Freedom Shares) were $29,250. Combined sales of E and H Bonds and Savings Notes for June in the state were $2,541,500 an increase of 10 per cent over June 1969 sales, reports Robert G. Clawson, State Chairman of the U. S. Savings Bonds Committee. to the Nation, E and H Bonds and Savings Notes sales total ed $465 million, a 25-year peak for any June, and 12 per cent above June 1969 sales, further reports Mr. Clawson. Power Family Reunion Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Power of 303 Florida Street had a family reunion Sunday July 26, at their residence. Mr. and Mrs. Power were married here in Clinton on October 24, 1931. The years that followed brought 12 children and at the time of this reunion there were 17 grandchildren. Of the 12 child ren only one was unable to attend this reunion, that was Mrs. Shirley Gore of Miami, Fla., Shirley’s husband Bob is employed by a Miami Trucking Firm, and they have one child. The greatest distance travel ed to attend was from San Jose, California. This was made by Wallace, his wire Judy and their five children. Wallace is em ployed as an Electronic Tech nician for Microwave Associates, Inc. Mrs. Joyce Humphries and her two children traveled from Washington, D. C. Her husband. Tech. Sgt. Robert Humphries is stationed at Andrews Air Force Base where he is assigned to the crew that has the responsi bility for maintainance and care of all aircraft used by the President of the United States. Walter, his wife Joan and two children made the trip from Huntsville, Alabama where he is employed as a Microwave Electronics Technician for the U. S. Army Metrology and Calibration Center. Lorry is home after eight years of service in the U. S. Navy. The last year duty in Vietnam as Boatswain Mate 2nd Class he was a member of a river patrol boat crew. Of the 12 children there are eight that have made their homes in Clinton. Wayne is assistant manager at the Clinton Mills Store. He and his wife Claudia have two children. Lamatrell married to Glenn Smith has two children. Glenn is grocery manager at the Community Cash Store. Gene has been attending classes for meat cutting in Aiaban\a and has recently re turned with his wife Linda and one child to Clinton. Mike is associated with his father in barbering. He and his wife Beth have one child. Three of the children are still living at home with Mr. and Mrs. Power, they are Ellis, Murna and Marica Sanders and her daughter Tracy. Mr. and Mrs. David Owens celebrated their wedding anni versary July 30. EDGAR BENJAMIN, JR. Benjamin Wins Clemson Scholarship Clemson-Edgar L. Benjamin Jr., a senior at Clemson Uni versity, is recipient of a $500 scholarship for the 1970-71 aca demic year. The grant is provided by the Burlington Industries Founda tion. An industrial management major, Benjamin is the son of Mrs. Doris Owens Benjamin of Mountville, Rt 1. He is a 1967 graduate of Clinton High School Among his extracurricular activities at Clemson, Benjamin was president of the Society of American Military Engineers during the 1969-70 academic term, and also was recipient of the Burlington scholarship during his junior year. Through his junior year of study, Benjamin has achieved a cumulative grade-point ratio of 3.35 out of a possible 4.00 (all A’s), and has been named to the Undergraduate Honor List each semester since entering the university. South Carolina’s string of 28 state parks encompass scenery from the lower reaches of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the state’s lively sun and ten beaches.
